I need to adjust the tie rods a bit to straighten out my steering wheel - it is off to the right by about 8* I would guess. I'm assuming that if I adjust both tie rods the same amount in the same direction then the alignment will not change, is that correct?

For those that have done this before - if my steering wheel is off to the right, which way should I turn the tie-rods? I am only off by a small amount, how much adjustment is needed to the tie-rods to effect a change in the steering wheel (I far should I turn them to get close?)

j00 want the wheels adjusted in the same direction as the wheel is pointing. So to the right, in j00r case.

I'm a little confused. So, looking at the wheel on each side i want to turn the tie-rods to the right (or upward) on each side?

j00 want to lengthen the tie-rod on left side and shorten on right side, same amount of turns....i think...

correct. if you put the steering wheel straight the wheels will look like \ \ to get the wheels like | | you want to do as matt said, lenghten the driver side tie-rod and shorten the passenger side.

make very small adjustments. like a quarter turn at a time.

Of course this is assuming j00r alignment is not fux0red up...did you replace the steering wheel or did you do something with the suspension...if the former then do as written, if the lattter, get the car to an alignment place.

The alignment is fine - I jsut replaced the wheel. Thanks for the help guys, a quarter turn on each side solved the problem.

Now I just have to get used to the feeling of a straight wheel again.

Take it on the highway and cruise in a flat straight line first at 65 then 75 and then 85 MPH to see if there are any variations. I get a slight shake at higher speeds with my JDM wheel and 1/8th toe out now but a new alignment will cure most of this.

Anton, shake is from wheel/rotor imbalance, not alignment issues...
