500 WHP. Need a clutch!
 

I'll be putting anywhere between 450-500 daily. I know of a few clutches out there capable of holding the power, but other than tilton and RPS, what clutch is capable of holding the power AND not having a ridiculous engagement? I'd like to be able to deal iwth the car on some days in traffic without pulling my hair out =p

I have a turbo ITR as well, Going to hit about the same numbers, and im using an action 4 puc clutch and i love it.

call up Clutchnet, i had one in my old CRX that had about 420whp. of course it's a little rough but you can definatly live with it. i daily drove mine with out much hassel

OS Giken twin-plate; one of my pals in Okinawa is running this with his boosted GSR.

Even with the single-plate, the pedal effort is pretty darn high (I had the Cusco version made by OS Giken) - and lord did it make a racket.

i have a max extreme ACT pressure plate with a 6-puck unsprung disk and it holds the power fine (500whp). The first time I drove the car I cried...lol. But now I am so use to it and I love it. I think it made me a MUCH better driver period and I wouldnt go with anything else. It all depends on what u want and how much u drive the car. A good combination would be max extreme pressure plate or even a heavy duty plate (holds 400 ft/lbs i think) and a 6 puck sprung disk. 4 pucks are have a harsher engegement.

i also got the act extreme pressure plate with a unsprung 6 puck. its really easy to drive and i run an unsprung 6 puck in my daily driver. mine is 3 years old and has seen a year of 385hp a year of 471hp and this year of 517hp 351tq. holds the power really well and you cant beat the price.

i have a competition clutch 6-puck sprung, ceramic disc.

all I have to say is great things, pedal pressure is a tad over stock, and once you get used to it, it won't give you any problems. it does grab like a mother, but it's very streetable.

i've heard that the exedy twin is great as well.

clutch masters. i got a fx 700 it does wonders but i got a k24/20 frank but they have fx 400 which should feel good for dd

My car was 500whp DD and I used an Exedy Stage 3. No issues.

Last year I had 561whp and after 3 runs down the with slicks my clutchnet 4puck unsprung disk shattered...I bought a Competition twin disk and loving it, its weird at first but you get use to it...Pedal feel is kinda like a bow, after half way it goes right in with no problem, and engagement isnt too bad...I drove with it all last year, to the track, DD, etc...Been holding up just fine even at 641whp, im running again this also, so far so good....Only thing when installing you gotta use d-series flywheel bolts due to clearance issues...Ran 10z on this clutch...

If you want a reliable clutch that isn't insane, your only real options for that power level are carbon-carbon kits. Tilton IMHO is the best.

I noticed a few people mention the Competition Twin Disc. This clutch is very similar to the Clutchmasters Twin Disc. We thought this was a great clutch until it started slipping last week on one of our cars after less than 10k miles. Granted he has made dozens of dyno pulls, passes on 26" slicks, and 5th gear highway pulls, all with nearly 600whp. Bottom line, don't expect a std. twin disc to last more than 10k miles.

You could buy a std. twin disc, but in the long run you will be spending more on replacing the twin disc kits than you would by purchasing a single carbon-carbon that can last 50k+ miles.

I make less power but Action 2MD is treating me WELL. Resurface your flywheel or get a new one when you get a clutch with a different friction surface composition (just like brakes). I learned the hard way and killed a Action 1MD.

dont mean to jack but whats your setup like dude? Is your car in street trim and ran 10's? I got 2001 CW Type-R with 400whp and broke my dss stage 3 first time out on track. will be going back in a few weeks when stage 5 get here. what turbo are u using and what are your afr like?

i have the competition clutch stage 6 twindisc
on my 2000 py ITR, im at about 450whp... its daliy driven i like it its a bit of getting used to but its drivable!
