104+octane booster....okay to use?

hey guys i really wish i could have made it to the expo, but things came up.
well, i own a gsr, but i wannted to ask the ITR ppl.

just wondering if this was okay to use... at the drag strip
my friend wants to go to the drag strip soon, and i have no experience with drag racing. I plan to run my 98 gsr on the strip.

he recommends using 104 octane.

Well, can i use 104 octane and Octane booster(7-10 points)?
I'm on stock gsr compression.

thx for the info.

Oh BTW any tips for the track?

The only way for your car to benefit from increased octane is to advance the timing to the point at which the car doesnt make any more power (dyno is where you wanna do this). 104 Octane and those otherboosters is that they can damage the 02 sensor and those can be pretty expensive to replace.

The 104+ is ok to use from what i have heard. Just don't use it to often. Every third tank full or so. I use the 104+ every third or fourth tank because my timing is advanced to 18 degrees and the highest octane gas available here is 90. I can definately tell a difference, but if you allready have a higher octane gas available, say 93 or 94 it probably won't make a difference. Stay away from the NOS octane booster, it contains MMT which can harm our emisions systems. It is in your owners manual, also stay away from the VP octane booster. Good stuff, but not for cars with emisions like ours, could damage your cat and o2 sensors. Just my 2 cents. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif

Octane is a stabalizer. It makes it harder for the gas to explode. The only reason you would want higher than 93 is if you bumped your compression over 10:1 or advanced your timing. If you do a search for "octane" I posted a good link a few weeks ago.
