No, it is just hand tight. Probably like 7-8ft/lbs

Nice solid hand tight and a little blue loctite isnt a bad idea. Rotors screws are known to come loose and/or fall out without loctite.

Once the old screw is out, how do you get the rotor off? Mine is stuck on. I did try prying on it a little but I was scared of braking something.

I don't recall precisely, but it was probably just some screwdriver leverage.

Large flat head and worst comes to worse you break the plastic cover which covers the ignitor and coil. This will allow you to pry it off closer to the distributor. Those plastic parts are pretty cheap from the dealer.

I've been considering selling the car due to lack of garage space and having my hands full with my 2002 and M3. Had the timing belt done, got it smogged, took photos, wrote up a listing, and stopped driving the car while busy with other things. Went up the hills to drive and do some on-board filming and fell under its spell again. I think the real testament to the car was that I was able to ride the bumper of a Cayman GT4 until he pulled off to let me by. The R is obviously not faster but it has the real-world performance and ability to inspire driver confidence that's hard to match.

I'm still trying to edit down the video, I'll post when finished. Still not sure if it's for sale or not.

I just followed your thread and WOW! I am so jealous! Clean clean clean with quality rare parts Can't wait to see the video.

When I was looking for an ITR I originally wanted NBP but ended up with PY. IF you were ever to consider selling heR, and if I was single, I'd sell my PY just to pick up your NBP. Hard to justify selling mines and buying another R when me and the wifey is saving up for a house. Following your thread just in case my wife changes her mind :D

Always happy to hear of owners who consider selling, then drive the car again and realize why they bought it in the first place. I'd keep the car no matter what. The driving experience and current market values should make this an easy decision. The value appreciation will pretty much equal the cost of a monthly storage spot if this trend continues.

Your other projects sound amazing. I'd love to see more of your E30 M3 and some pics of the 2002

i think everybody goes through that phase where they don't drive the car, think about selling it, drive it once, and boom fall in love all over again.

clean stable of cars you have!

'73 2002tii is a bit of a project. You might have seen it on BringATrailer a while back. Cosmetics are obviously rough but it runs really well and Ceylon (gold) is a very rare color. Still haven't figured out which shade of paint on the car is the real Ceylon... I bought it from a flipper but was able to get in touch with two previous owners, tracing the history of the car back a couple decades to when it was sitting in a Eureka field in pieces, stripped by "tweakers." I made my way up to Petaluma and bought the numbers-matching block from one of those owners. No immediate plans since it runs well with the current motor but I knew that, if separated, the block and car would never find each other again. I used to have a '71 2002, bone stock, and this car has the same fun character but with a bit more sporting feel (mystery lowering springs, smaller-diameter steering wheel, slightly larger wheels, tii fuel injection). If you're an import guy and you don't really keep up with/care about old bimmers, I encourage you to drive an 02 if you get the chance. Great community, tons of classic car charm, and great driving fun at a reasonable price.

M3 is doing okay these days. Recently resolved a crisis where the line from the clutch reservoir to the master (in the cabin footwell) had torn and leaked all into the carpet. Wheels have changed from 17" LMs to 16" RXs - aesthetic downgrade but much better ride quality. Took off the wing for a bit just because. Reminds me of the Lancer Evo 8(?) RS I think. There's something fun about a car that's supposed to have a wing running without one. In any case, the wing has been re-fitted.

I am lucky to have this great little collection of cars, but right now I'm a bit fatigued with how many things need my attention. I think the secret to having a 4-car spread is that 1 to 1.5 of them is actually a project car, and the others are stable. Instead I have 3.5 project cars and my poor Miata has to keep me afloat...

10/4 update - this post was previously my FS listing. The car is going to be listed for auction shortly. Much of the information in this post is out of date, so I am cleaning it up to avoid confusion.

I hope this goes to a good owner like you have been.

I wish DC2's were worth here what they are on your side of the pond. You wouldn't get half that price here. I hope to find a collector or enthusiast when I sell mine but from what I see they just aren't that collectable over here.

Nice ITR! I owned a track ready 2002 for a couple years. Another great car as well. Taking your ITR back to stock was a great idea. It was a great car straight from the factory!

Imlooking at potentially purchasing one soon and will keep yours in mind! GLWS

Similar situation in NZ, I wonder if prices will change when the cars are 25 years old and the US can import them. Will still have to deal with the shipping etc cost.

I've had a couple local enthusiasts check out the car but haven't found a new home for it yet. Car is still available, please contact me if you're interested.

Anyone keeping up with the market knows how much prices can vary on these cars, I had a tough time trying to set my asking price. Happy to work something out with an enthusiast (though please don't pm me "15k cash" like everyone on Craigslist...)

Thank you for sharing your selling experience. Mine is missing the passenger side front fender VIN as well so I consider mine to be a driver. Yours has lower mileage than mine and you have taken care of lots of maintenance. I think you are in the right price range but it seems there is a limit to what people are willing to pay for a nice Type R.

Everyone wants a deal and so 15k USD cars seem to sell pretty quickly. Yours may take a little longer to find the right buyer who is willing to pay up for quality.

Good luck. Selling a car online can be really painful.

Maybe I missed it, but how much are you asking ?

Beautiful car btw - nice to see these being restored to original perfection ! You are doing the Honda enthusiast community a real service !

I had chance to drive a friend's stock 88 E30 M3 in the late 90's on some twisty 2 lane and recall it being a rather special little machine - fantastic steering, brakes, handling. But after so long and so many miles in a GSR and ITR, the details have faded a bit.
Since you have the unique experience with both cars at the same time, can you give a little comparison between them ?

Thanks...

Does that mean you sold the car? If so, did you get close to your asking price? For others inquiring I believe he was asking $22,995 or somewhere in that range.

Sorry, didn't mean to be so enigmatic with my last post. Car will be going up for auction pretty soon on a popular website, I'll provide a link when it goes live. I polished the car and took new photos and the one above was too good not to share. There will be a link to this thread on the auction, so I'm going to go back and clean up my FS details in a moment to reflect the latest information.
