Who would want one?
My friend and I have decided to make a batch of "Maintence Mode Switches" for the members of HT.
These will be small push-button lighted switches that will have enough wire length to install anywhere in the front dash or install in the armrest (this is where we are installing ours).
These will have a simple plug connector that plugs right in to the blue 2 wire maintence plug, and a nice discrete lit push-button switch that will only illuminate when the switch is activated.
We thought that a fair price of $10 for the whole kit would be good plus whatever shipping would be... like $2 my estimate...
Opinions? would you like one? This will save people having to rig a switch and solder stuff... etc... just plug and install. We will supply a full set of instructions also...
Thanks for any feedback....
BTW: if you question my reliability, since lately people have been getting screwed, you can ask Vap0rtrail and several other long time members about me...

Yep... it is a good idea...
Would you buy one at $10? I think it's fair since we're not really making any money off it after we solder everything and wrap it with good loom...
I'll post a pic once I make the model... so people can see that it's worth it...
I just got tired of using a damn paperclip everytime I needed the ECU in maintence mode.

Hold on, is this a switch to turn the maintenance required light on and off, or is it a switch to go between diagnostic and normal mode (the little plug in the passenger side footwell)?

It will be a switch that will allow you to easily switch the ECU into Diagnostic mode. THus making it easier for pulling codes/tuning/ etc.... This will make it so that you can switch modes while sitting in your drivers seat, instead of having to access the plug every time... Tuners will love you for it...
I have a few in on it... anymore? If I get 5 that say "Yes", I'll go ahead and start making them and post a pic of it... I think 48hrs would be the most for a good pic of one...
Just figured I would make this an easy "plug-in" mod, since it will be a female to match the blue male... it will be a perfect fit everytime...

I think you should just make a webpage showing what it does, how to install it, and buying information (with PayPal option of course).

Working on this right now... Should be posting a pic of the full product tomorrow night. So far it's coming along great... I forgot how much fun soldering is...
So far it looks like I have 10 or so between several boards... any others intrested?

haven't quite gotten to that level as yet but the way I'm going it sounds like it would be great to have easy access once I get there. let us know when the page is up with the info.
