Who would have done this? **NEW QUESTION ASKED ON SECOND PAGE!!**

So i took my integra to have its yearly inspection (PA law) and they said that they noticed the right axle is starting to "fling" grease out of it..and on the ticket i got the from the auto place it says "Sticker not issued until right front axle is fixed" so i said alright, brought the car home, jacked it up, saw the grease was coming out between the rubber boot and the metal part of the axle..so i cut the band off..pulled the boot down...repacked the cv joint with grease..pulled the boot back up..replaced with a new clamp....wiped all the grease off and drove it around for about 15 miles, looked and no grease had come out...drove it back down the inspection place and they said they wont pass it because the axle hadnt been REPLACED...and i said "but the ticket said the right front axle had to be "fixed" not replaced...

but they wont pass it now...

what do you guys think?

I know how you feels when it comes to things like this because I live in CA where it it much more strict.
I will have to admit I've never heard of them denying tags for a torn CV boot. I would point out that it is not "clicking" which is the reason why you repaired the boot.
If that fails I would just go to Autozone and buy a new one slap it in a call it a day because at that point it isn't worth fighting.

Go back another time when different people are working. They won't know.

Try a different place and don't show them any previous receipts or paperwork from the old place.

I thought of that...but then i have to pay again for an inspection..i payed this place already and really all they had to do was come slap a sticker on it...and if i got differant guys come out...it wouldnt mean anything because in order to show that i paid...i have to show the previous ticket...

i talked to my father about it and he knows someone who will just slap a sticker on it for me...so i am gonna call him today and make some kind of arrangements

PA can be pretty strict. The CV boot should have been tightened if it was not torn. The mechanic is an idiot. Who did the inspection: an independent or a dealer?

Does the axle have any excess play or clicking?

I'm a pa licensed inspection mechanic and the repair you made is valid, you can call the state police to challenge them for failing your car. If the axle was only losing grease in the first place and isn't actually bad it shouldn't technically fail in the first place though.

Independant shop....and no there is no play or clicking...i caught it before it got all the grease out of it and it made the axle go bad...thats why i dont see what the big conflict is...but oh well..i am gonna get a sticker..and not replace my axle..so in the end..i am going to win

Aren't you still out the inspection fee at that shop?

Lol. I live in Ohio and I hate crossing over the state line to PA. The only plus side to your guys auto laws is not having to have a front plate.

Re: Who would have done this?

if the axle is not bad, it does not need to be replaced, you need to take it to another inspection station and just have it done again.
