WHO IS THE HT ADMIN HOW DO I POST REQUESTS?
I was wondering if there could possibly be a vote for a dedicated forum on HOW-TO's for the tech and mechanicn savvy people......i know i am not the only person in this world, so i thought maybe a public vote would be appropriate.....please advise.......thanks!!! FYI if there is allready a forum for how-to's only....please show me because i cannot see it......

there is no official "how to" forum, but it is a good idea. Right now the How To threads just fall under their respective forums....Boost How To threads are in the FI section and so forth...having a dedicated forum would be a good idea, but require a lot of upkeep.....
good idea IMO

i dont think theyre competition, its mostly the same people who populate both. you dont know how many times i see the exact same post from one person on both forums and it pisses me off. i love TI for the articles but the forums have much tighter rules, like no pics of non-tegs. thats not cool.

It doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon, if at all. The general consensus is that how-to's are posted in their respective model or technical forums, and a separate how-to forum would be redundant.

The problem with that is the you can not search the term "How To"
If the words how and to could be added to the search engine then that would help.
I think every site should have a a how to section but that is just my opinion
See below:
» No Results Found
Your search for how to returned no results.
Please try different search criteria or a different data set.
The following words are too short or too common and were not included in your search: to, how.

You can search H-T using Google as well.
What I posted is simply the consensus among the staff who responded to my inquiry. Forums don't get added all that often to begin with, and ideas that aren't very well received are even less likely to be added. I'm not saying it's an impossibility at some point in the future, just that I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I understand them not wanting to add a forum for something that they think is unnecessary.
What about taking out the "how" and "to" from the search filter?
I think that would help people how just want to search for any thread with "how to" in it.

I think the easiest solution at this point is to make use of Google, as well as to search for keywords related to the topic you're researching rather than focusing on "how-to" threads, since often there are many threads with valuable information that aren't necessarily titled "how-to".

Re: (Padawan)
I visit both TI and HT, TI less often as they are post *****. I don't even post there, but I hate seeing legitimate, well written posts being deleted or locked.
I never thought of it as competition.
Thier article section is a must read, almost everything is somewhat informative.
The DIY section is nice, if you are bored and looking for something to do.
