Default Trunk Floor Brace

What is the purpose of the bolts on the trunk floor that must be removed in order to install the trunk floor brace?

I ask because I had no problem getting either bolt out with my impact wrench, but the problem was with getting them back in. One of the bolts screwed back in perfectly, but the other will not go back in.

When I looked at it, I noticed the hole in the frame is not perfectly aligned with the threaded hole below. The top part of the frame seems to be blocking the bolt from reaching the threaded hole by about 2mm or so. Any suggestions on what could have caused this or how to get the bolt back in?

What do you mean? The bolt is straight when I'm trying to put it in, but it won't line up correctly.

No... I didn't even have the second bolt in when I noticed that it didn't line up.

Looks like the threads might be damaged. You shouldn't have used an impact gun to get those out. A regular ratched and socket would have been fine.

I don't think the threads are the issue because the bolt can't even reach the full threaded hole. It looks like the frame rail is slightly shifted on the side.

Try jacking up the car. Maybe that will help.
