timing belt tension
I just did the water pump and timing belt. Every thing went fine, but I've seen lots of people say to push the tensioner a bit before tightening. This is a b18a1 with 170k miles.
I know the standard procedure is just to let the spring work.....but I'd like to know if there's a more general measurement. I've seen some people say you should be able to rotate the belt a certain amount. I did push the tensioner just a little while tightening....and I can hear just a little difference now, then before I did the job. A little bit of wherring, maybe. Put in a Gates Racing belt. I also change all the accessory belts to.
Opinions?
Thanks.
