STRAIGHT PIPE SILENCER?

Re: STRAIGHT PIPE SILENCER?
Whatever you choose.
Just FYI - Exhaust system consists of: header, catalytic converter, catback (piping after the cat), and axleback/muffler ("tip" what you call it).
It would make it easier for people to answer your questions if you define these terms properly. Also, it wouldn't sound so dumb

In my experience (of seeing/hearing other peoples exhausts) get two resonators and it will be quiet under driving and loud when you rip on it. Google 'high flow cat vs test pipe' and you will get an understanding of how much difference there is between the two. I wanted to know myself and now i do.

Re: STRAIGHT PIPE SILENCER?
get one of those "cherry bombs" resonators from pep boys or your local auto store. Put that half way through your piping and it should quiet it down a little bit. OR, just find a high flowing ebay muffler if you're on a tight budget.

Re: STRAIGHT PIPE SILENCER?
If you don't have a reverse megaphone, you want an expansion chamber of some kind to terminate the collector length. The cat normally serves as the expansion chamber. If you want to insist on running cat-less (which is a rather ******* maneuver to pull, since there are plenty of cats out there that will flow as good as a straight pipe), at least run a resonator at the proper location to terminate the header correctly.
Otherwise, why even bother with a tuned length exhaust manifold (a.k.a. header)?

Re: STRAIGHT PIPE SILENCER?
Update: i went to my local muffler shopp, had them install a pretty decent size resonator, with a thrush turbo muffler, it did the job, its not even loud a bit no more... 100% satisfied

How old are you bro? 16? This your first car?
Glad it worked out but man, hatin' on people that are looking for information to help you is pretty dumb. Think most people here are just thinking 'DUH a muffler will help the noise level... its a MUFFLER.' So, we are confused as to why you are even asking...

Re: STRAIGHT PIPE SILENCER?
you did the right thing not installing a stock muffler to your 2.5 straight pipe. installing a stock muffler to a 2.5 straight pipe is the same as stock catback exhaust system.
REVIVAL!!!
for anyone who wants their car quieter, there are silencer options, cat delete resonators, and, of course, add turbo.
there are sound deaden-er applications and intake resonators also.
