stock block LS Vtec Limits (not rev limits)
ive got a stock block (cept golden eagleblock guard) LS Vtec and i have search the site and found everything bout r/s ratio and how you shouldn't rev the LS block over 7000 (or is it 7500). anyways my ? is how much power can the stock block survive. If i made my LS Vtec get about 210-250 @ 7,000 & redlined at, say, 7200, would that be OK

If your just gonna half *** your ls/vtec, I suggest that you stick with your b18b head and do some internal work to it.Your not even gonna be using vtec when its at its best so why bother.

you could rev that hard but it will not
survive that long
possibly you will
throw a rod
or the head would just seperate from block

Re: stock block LS Vtec Limits (mr.beeks)
i already built the motor and yes i half assed it cuz im poor, i was going to lower the vtec point to bout 4800 so id have bout 2400 rpm of vtec . but what my question was as long as i dont rev above 7200, can the block take 220-250 hp. also does anyone know if i can install new rod bolts w\o taking the whole motor out, and i used GE head studs so i dont think the block and head will seperate

Man you can take that bitch to 8200 thats what everyone around here is shifting at.
And all the ls vtecs around here are running strong and have been for a while now.

Re: stock block LS Vtec Limits (Jlo96Hatch)
I agree, I have a boosted LS/Vtec and I take it 7500rmp constantly for a week long 2500km rally. No problem, I figure if it cant take it it will let you know shortly. I consider 7500 to be a safe limit. Where I know that they can go higher. I dont even have the ARP rod bolts either. F ' it I do however have the head studs. I would'nt lower your VTEC point because of the fact that the VTEC is place at that point for a reason, if you change it you might screw up the flow in your head thus causing you to loose power not gain. Give it hell and have fun.!
