Heres the pics of where the adjustment nut is located, edited the pics to make sure they are straight forward for people whos never seen this locknut.
Added alot of commentary in the pics so everything is clear of what the pictures are of, and what angles they are at so there is no confusion.

wtf my car doesn't have any sort of cover like that.
I replaced my steering rack with a freshly-rebuilt unit (rebuilt with all OEM Honda parts) less than 2 years ago, so I'm going to assume that it doesn't need this adjustment.

it SHOULD be similar. Basically since youve seen what the locknut looks like, you can just search around under the car on the rack and look for that nut, is the best info I could tell you to find it on the DC since im not 100% sure.

I'm having this very issue with my 93 Civic Cx hatch with manual steering rack. Steering wheel has some play in it that makes the steering feel sloppy at most speeds.

We did this on my friends EG civic who had this very same problem (steering wheel shakes at high MPH); the shaking really shines at the road course I might add and totally kills your courage.
Well, he bought the Honda tool; took like 2 friggin weeks to get in. Got it last week. Wednesday night we tried seeing if this adjusting nut was the culprit. Upon loosening up the big nut, then checking the smaller inner (14mm) nut. I found that the inner nut within spec of the suggested 1/4 turn. This made me sad. But, his rack & pinion is shot anyways (outter boots are ripped and grease looks dried up). So instead of taking chances, we decided to pull the whole rack out and order up a rebuilt unit instead. Got the new rack in on friday and installed Saturday night. TOTAL HELL JOB with the motor in the car btw..but we managed. Test drove and shakyness eradicated!!!!!
We'll see what happens on May 28th as we're heading to Buttonwillow Raceway on that day.
I'll share photos I snapped of the rack and tool once I get the photos from my friends digy camera.

Re: Steering rack adjustment - Best thing I ever did.
Anyone want to rent out there adjustment tool for a weekend? I don't want to pay 40 bucks for a tool I'm going to use one time. I'll pay for shipping etc.
If not they should adjust this at the alignment shop right?

Re: Steering rack adjustment - Best thing I ever did.
Can anyone confirm if this works on cars with manual racks, or say, cars with power racks that have had their power steering removed w/ lines looped?
Just trying to find figure out if the adjustment tightens the flow of fluid, or if it's tightening the shaft coming from the steering column. It looks as if it's the latter, but I can't tell just by looking at the pics...

I adjusted mine last night, (93 Civic Cx hatch with manual rack) and I can say it seems a little better. This is after I recently replaced both inner tie rods, got new tires, four wheel alignment and installed a new rack end bushing last month. The steering feels a bit stiffer., however the steering wheel still has some shudder in it on the interstate...but it's gone away at lower street speeds. You can definitely tell when the adjustment screw is bottomed out…it’s nearly impossible to turn the steering wheel. I backed the screw out to spec so it’s as adjusted as much as it’s gonna get.

That's next on my list. I'm gonna double check that all the ball joint nuts are tight as can be, (pretty sure they are). I'm gonna inspect lca bushings as well.

I'll be changing both front wheel bearings sometime in the next two weeks. We'll see if that has any effect.
