Starter Problem?

I made a thread about this a while ago, I don't know if anyone will remember though. A few months ago I had a problem starting it. When I pushed the clutch in all the way it wouldn't start but if I let it out a quarter of an inch or so, it would. It got so bad after a while that it wouldn't start so I took it in to be looked at and had the starter replaced. It's been fine since then but just this week I'm noticing that it's starting to do it again. Do you think they mis-diagnosed the problem the first time? Any ideas as to what else it could be? Some of you had said neutral safety switch the first time but the mechanic said that wasn't it.

What neutral safety switch? How about clutch safety switch? Seems pretty clear since you can make it start by doing something with the clutch. I wonder why the mechanic said that wasn't it?

Ah, thought it was called neutral safety switch, sorry. Would a switch gradually wear out though? That's what it seems like is happening. It worked fine for the last few months after I got the new starter. I dunno.

i dont think thats a part that wears down, seen many people go 120k+ miles w/o having to replace a part like that, but who knows. bring the car somewhere else and get a 2nd opinion.

Clutch switch is just a little switch at the clutch pedal. Seems like it would either work or not. But maybe its bracket is just bent? Mine's OK at 118k, but they're not indestructable either.
