Default alignment question

if i lower my car with h&r sports,get an alignment then 2 months later throw on 17"s will i need an alignment again with the 17 on being that they will change the ride height somewhat...

Theoretically you should not need an alignment, since the distance and angles of the suspension arms and tie-rods relative to each other will still be the same (the spring weight of the car will be the same, and the ride height as determined by the suspension will still be the same, I assume). However you might want to get the alignment (toe-in) checked anyhow.

thanks patrick.. im just trying to collect as much info as i need to do this right..but im still stuck on springs..i think i may end up with the h&r sports as u hve and many others..hopefully i wont need a camber kit or rub when i drop the 17's on the teg..thanks again man..

don't do it, I hate my springs.... I should have gone w/ custom-rate GC's to begin with, and now will have to spend more $ to get what I should have done at first.

but im not looking for a crazy track set up...just something more stable than stock but has some comfort to it...right now i have a harsh ride with unknow springs that were on my car when i bought it i just added the agx's cause the stock shocks were blown...car handles pretty good right now but jars my jaw when i hit bumps and if im on a turn and hit a bump the *** hops/and makes the car unstable...

oh believe me, my car gets pretty unstable on rough roads. The problem is that it dropped my car 3" but only has a spring rate of about 276 lb/in. Now if it were more towards the 350-400 range (like H&R race springs or the GC's that I plan to get) then I'm sure it would be better.

man a spring rate that stiff for me would be like driving a flinstones mobile with stone wheels...im trying to lean a lil more towards the comfortable side of things but still have an upgrade in handling over stock...

but what I'm saying is, the relatively soft spring rate of the H&R Sports combined w/ the extreme drop (3" on my car, no it has not sagged, it has always been that way) makes for a poor combination in terms of comfort. If you want low, the springs have to be stiff. If you don't want stiff, you can't be very low.

This info may help in regards to your alignment questions...

Sometimes Alignment Shops have a "lifetime" alignment guarantee, and will align "forever" for a minimal fee- about $150. My friend gets it done through Firestone... Definitely worth it if you get alot of alignments (like me), hit berms on the racetrack, hit potholes, keep swapping out suspension, etc... Hope this is relevant...

Do they have any sort of limit like so many per year, or no more than 1 alignment per certain number of months?

Just wondering, a friend of mine at a Chevy dealer does my alignments anyway.

Why not go with the oe's instead of the sports?

The H&R sport springs are a fine medium drop spring that will ride nice. They arent designed for super handeling&gt; But they are certainly better than springs of a comparible drop like neuspeed sports. If your really looking to upgrade your handleing then go with GC's or something similar. They spring rates arent that high on GC's (380F/250R).

I personally decided to go with GC's over the H&R sports because they are a more aggressive spring and I can set the drop to whatever I like.

My friend just told me that he is able to do as many alignments as he wants (he owns a GSR also). I know, it sounds weird but he's already been back a few times...

You can get ERS springs w/ GC's in rates anywhere from 100 to over 3000 lb/in.
