INTAKE MANIFOLD PORTING WRITE UP
here we go
supplies used in this project
here we have our shity used stock intake from egay
look at the chip on the top part of the im opening
60mm stock im opening
we establish our goal excuse the flower shorts it was hot this weekend
intake straped down and ready for the grindage
time to dig in
i found this drill bit in my garage made the grindage go faster its 36 grit
time to go to town with the drill
keep in mind im doing this as evenly as possible constately measuring
took a pretty good chunk outa her
take down all uneven surfaces to reduce friction
keep in mind im using a 36 grit sanding wheel i only used one the whole time which suprised me
almost there
our established goal was too big for this intake so 63mm will have to do
more pic of polished finish soo too come

i got a little lazy wit the pics and i didnt take pics of the polish and cleaning process
after i got to my goal of 63mm with the 36 grit sanding wheel i used a 60 grit sanding wheel on the dremel to smooth it out and then i used 120 grit sanding wheels to smoth that out....during the smoothing out of the intake i took off as little material as posible since i had already reached 63mm
remember the chip on the tip part of the im opening ....it is no longer there
the poilshed finish is no work of art but it sure is smooth trust me
i cleaned up the runners with 120 grit sanding wheels just to smooth out the roughness and then polished them
i used intake system cleaner on the whole intake and then a wire wheel on the drill and steel wool to get to the hard to reach places to clean the exterior of the intake

how much would this actually help?
It looks like you just ported the outside edge of the throttle body, is that what you did?
Im going to be installign a turbo kit in a few days, do you think doing this to my gsr manifold would benefit me at all?
It's a stock manifold, and I'm not tryin to make a billion horsepowers

that tb is tapered to stock im trying to see if i can bore it to 62-63mm if not im going to put the intake on my car and use that tb till i get a bigger one, porting an intake is almost pointless unless u have a bigger tb not too big tho too big will mess up ur air valocity unless its boosted even then u dont want it too too big

Yes that "notch" is def there stock, but what point does it even serve?
It only looked like it catches "gunk" in that spot, and nothing else.

Do you think the current hole for the TB mount is centered where the old hole was? I can see from this picture that it is not perfectly round.

I would be extrememly difficult to do that well with the equipment that you used.
