Any plans for a turbo? Stick with the GS-R if yes. Otherwise I'd go for an Si.

SI all the way! my buddy did this on his gsr and the difference was amazing! need i remind you that the SI tranny has the same gear ratios as an ITR (minus LSD)?

I agree,
GSR for a possible FI application
Si for a n/a application

That would be a nice price for the Honda Si tranny...I might hit up the local Honda dealership this weekend and see what they quote. Went to the dealer last weekend to pickup my rings and asked what the prices would be for a GSR transmission...it was $2400 for a G3 and the G2 cable one was $2500.....ouch.

[EDITED the "wastleekend"...lol]

I was also quoted 2300+ for a GSR transmission from the dealer.

if it's cheaper to rebuild your GSR tranny, wouldn't it be easier to swap in a B16A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear?

i'm in a similar predicament, i definatedly want the si tranny for the gearing except it sucks for highway driving compared to the gsr, youre right about not knowing the condition of it but if you get a 99 or 00 you know it cant be that bad. One thing that you can consider if youre going to rebuild you gsr, is throwing in a final drive

i hear the Si tranny is weaker than the B18 tranny's...
i forget which part...
i'd get a JDM or USDM type r tranny...
LSD + lighter flywheel =
