Question on pistons replacement..b18c1 re-sleeve or no?
I'm thinking about replacing the pistons in my teg with JDM ITR pistons.
My question is...
It's got about 80,000 miles on it. Would I need to have the block honed and buy oversized pistons or would stock sized pistons be good enough and dont mess w/honing the block?

The block will need to be honed either way to ensure the rings seat properly. Unless the bore is out of round or scratched to the point where honing won't help, you can use stock 81mm bore pistons.

Well that blows.
That means that I've gotta pull the engine to hone it, otherwise I'd get shavings all on my crank.
Blahh...
If in order to properly install the ITR pistons, I've gotta hone the block..And to do that I've gotta completely tear the engine apart.. and to do that I've gotta pull the damn thing cause I cant imagine how hard it woudl be doin all that crap with it still in the car..
Hell, I might as well just freakin rebuild the thing and have a fresh engine.
And then theres no sense in using the factory rods again, since it would be just as easy to install aftermarket bad boys..
Ugh
I'm kinda bummed now.

Ummm, you have to tear down the motor to swap pistons too, they dont just pop out the top o the block.

its not that hard to pull a motor it takes me and my buddy 45 minutes to an hour to get one out then about a half hour to get it stripped to a bare block, grab a friend and some wrenches and got to town on it

What I meant was pull the crank, oil pump.. ect. COMPLETELY tearing it down. You dont have to pull the crank when your just swapping pistons. And, if I"m not mistaken, you do in fact remove the pistons from the top when the motor is still in the car
