Default plm header & oxygen sensor fitment

i have a plm header (4-1 RMF) that i bought and im having an issue with the o2 sensor bung location. it is on the side of the pipe and near the center where-as the stock pipe is on top and near the back where the flange meets the catalytic converter.

did i get the wrong header or are these things just garbage?

id rather not have to take it somewhere to get the bung welded in place where it needs to be.

has anyone else used these before?

does the 02 sensor and wire fit in the side location ? if not then send the POS header back. If it does fit then there is no harm running it sideways and in that location. My 1320 header has a side bung and a top bung, one for the oem sensor and one for a wideband sensor.

it can technically plug it in but the wire rubs against the half shaft so its no good.

id really rater not have to splice in an extension wire so it looks like im going to have to ditch it

Get a 1320 Toda Rep! best bang for your buck and great ground clearance!

did you have to use slim fans? did the stock o2 sensor bolt in without having to modify/extend the wire?

got pics?

I also support the use of the 1320 Toda rep header, fitment is perfect, fits fine with the oem GSR rad fan, and fits fine with the 02 sensor, it also has a second bung for a wideband if needed. It has a 2.5 inch collector though, you can get the header with the matching 2.5 inch TP.

you can buy premade o2 plug extensions so you don't have to splice. But if it will rub the half shaft anyway, then seems like a bad design.

bit of a grave dig here but was wondering if you wrapped the header at all to act as a heat shield?

I don't recommend wrapping the header it can cause cracks, its not really necessary on a N.A setup, if you have temp issues that needs to be addressed. Thermal coating is more better.

Just ziptie the O2 wire out of the way of the halfshaft. That's what I had to do with the PLM (RMF replica) header. No issues after running it for 6+ years.

I had two headers, one for a 91 and one for a 92. The header for the 91 had the o2 sensor in the manifold, so the down tube was solid. Used a grinder to put the hole in the desired location and had my local muffler shop weld the nut in place for the sensor.

No I did not wrap the header, it is too pretty to wrap, and as wunfun said it promotes cracking of the welds on thin walled headers.

I actually wrapped my a/c line that runs down beside the header to protect it from the heat, all else is good.
