Painting car.... what color is safer if any?

So, I have decided to do all the bodywork on my DC and give it a complete respray. I was a bit concerned that a bright color would be more prone to attention and possible theft. I was leaning towards Championship White or Carrara White. but on the flipside I was thinking also about Graphite Grey Pearl (Lexus color)

What are your experiences with brighter colored cars vs darker color cars. Am I just paranoid? :) I dont live in the hood, but the hood can most certainly find you if they want to.

Thanks.

Any new paint job is going to make your car look better and therefore more attractive to thieves. I would think that Championship White would be particularly attractive because it's such a popular color. But you can't let thieves decide how you live your life and what you want to do to your car. Just do what you want and keep it protected with a good multi-layered security system.

That said, I'd stick with what it came from out of the factory unless you plan on repainting the engine bay, sills, etc., because I think cars look bizarre when you start opening things up and peeling away panels and another color shows its face.

car is black now.... but I plan on painting the entire shell the right way. doors, hatch, bumpers and fender off.

you drive an integra. it's already more prone to attention and theft.

Away from theft issues, brighter colored cars get hit less.

There was a poll about it, and it has to do with dawn when the sun is coming up, and dusk when the sun is coming down. The darker colored cars are harder to see without their lights on.

If safety is the actual concern (what the title asks) and not theft (which is a different concern), don't go with gray, charcoal, etc... colors. I can't count the number of times my wife's "dolphin gray" (charcoal) Audi was nearly merged into by people who had no clue the car was there. After a complete idiot finally totaled the car, again never knowing it was there, we replaced it with a bright silver one and all the issues with near collisions went away.

Lesson learned. No matter how good it looks, no more "road colored" cars in my fleet.

Lol I love that Audi's just come in like 80 shades of grey, and no other colors.

And white. Can't forget the other "non-color" color choice offered.

I still want a Nogaro Blue B5 S4. That was a truly beautiful color for the car.

^^^ I too want a B5 Nogaro S :(

I think I will just stick to the Championship White if I cant think of a nicer color that wont stick out like a sore thumb.

To be honest, I'd either keep her black or you can go Matador Red Pearl. Not very many of those rummaging around.

Black is the Safest, IMO.

Cypress Green Pearl is the safest, you won't get attention from cops or thieves.

I have a gallon on John Deere Blitz Black. I was thinkin of just shooting the car a nice satin black. I have seen some good results on high end cars as well as old school muscle cars. Maybe I should give it a shot.

Awesome, make it look like Type-R, no one will want to steal it then. :wack:

^ Lol. That is a good point.

That's one of the reasons I like my paint and plan on keeping it the same color when I get body work done. Not very many integras out there with my paint.

LOL, I already have three black cars sitting in the driveway. I get tired of cleaning them :) Maybe I will go for red or something that less TypeR-ish

criminals dont discriminate the cars they steal based on their color. paint it whatever color you want it to be and be happy and get a good alarm and detachable steering wheel.

And op, if you're thinking of doing satin black, I hope you've got more than a mild drop and stock alloys. Satin looks good on bad ass cars. But just janky otherwise
