Oil Filter is Stuck, I Need Help??????
Ok I am changing my g/f's oil on her 2001 gsr and I have already drained the oil. I tried to get the filter off but it is stuck on there like no other. It doesn't have a grip on it or any thing i tried to wrap sand paper around it and twist it off but that didn't work i also got one of those wreches but i can't get enough torque to crank it off because there is no room to fit a breaker bar. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it bad to put the oil in w/ out changing the filter? thanks

Its not great, but you can get away with it if you really are struggling.
If you can get the filter wrench and a ratchet on it, just slide a pipe on the ratchet and pull away. If not, you can always use the screwdriver method where you jam a screwdriver in it and turn, but that could get messy
I'd try the pipe first...it will work fine.

Sears sells those strap wrenches that can go around the filter. Use that or a good filter wrnech and grab the filter from the back end and turn like crazy! Also, be sure you are turning the wrench the right way. You should be turning the filter towards the driver's side of the car, lefty-loosey. Sometimes the elemental things are the cause for trouble. Good luck!
