Normal compression #'s for an LS
What are average #'s for the LS? My boy got an 95 LS and out of the graciousness of my heart I did a comp. test for him today and was quite suprosed by the results...
Cyl1 195 Cyl2 200 Cyl3 150 Cyl4 210 Obviously he has a problem in 3 and #2 hole was filled with oil so when it drained in the cylinder it helped raise the #, but I figured they would be lower on the bone stock low 9:3ish comp LS.... this is an 170k motor BTW. |
Re: Normal compression #'s for an LS (96 GSR-T)
it seem fine except #3

Keep in mind it all depends on what guage you use as well.
A snapon one will read vary differently from a MAC or an Autozone brand one. For instance.. My LS motor bone stock with a fresh rebuild on it did 180psi across the board on a Snapon, and did 205psi on a Autozone brand one (they read high because their diaphrams absolutely suck and tend to hold the psi spikes). The thing you should be concerned with is the drop in #3. Generally speaking a 5% difference is ok... but thats outside of that range https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif |
Re: (T3mp3sT)
Im curious about this as well. We have similar results. Ive got all my cylinder within the right range of each other (about 180) and my cylinder 3 is like 140.
Oh yea i have a 95 ls as well with about 140K miles |
Re: (LsHoney84)
# 3 is always a bitch.
My first engine after 70k I had 180 except 3. It was at 150 |
