Re: Need Help with rough cold start
OK, your throttle position sensor should be at .50 on closed throttle, 4.5 wot. I have a problem with my tps being just a little off and it will run rough until the EIC (electric idle control) which is NOT the iacv on my car, 2 different sensors, catches up and advances the vacuum. Personally I KNOW the problem is my tps. I'm actually going to swap my throttle body, I have a spare, with the oem tps already installed.

Its a Rich Porter distributor. I have read that those are as good as aftermarket gets. Being as you can no longer buy complete distributors from honda and piecing them together would cost $1000, this is the only option.

I would think if the intake manifold gasket was leaking, the idle would be all over the place and racing up and down etc.
Another weird thing. It seems to start much easier with premium fuel.

Re: Need Help with rough cold start
Update, I changed the spark plugs out for oem copper ngk zfr5f-11 and gapped them to exactly .043". The iridiums that were in there, I wrongly assumed were pregapped to correct spec, were actually at about 0.035" (the new coppers were worse at 0.032" out of the box). I also replaced the autozone spark plug wires with new OEM wires. Finally I confirmed the mechanical timing was okay (it was fine), checked the condition of the timing belt (it was fine) and then set the valve lash. None of the clearances were that far out, only one was even out at all and it was just barely. Here is more details on that:

Anyways the car is running like a million bucks, feels brand new. It has been a week now of perfect running, so hopefully this is it.
