My Integra GSR Transmission Build/Assembly

Re: My Integra GSR Transmission Build/Assembly
whenever you have to drive this type of seal in with a hammer, always dab a bit of grease at 2 or 3 spots on the backside where the spring sits in the groove to keep the spring in. it's easy for it to pop out with the tapping of the hammer. and you won't know until it's all back together and it leaks. not saying that's the case here for sure, but if you didn't, it's a good possibility.

That is all i do when i install mine. You do have to be careful not to scratch the seal with the end of the splines. sometimes they will scratch just a little but enough to leak. I know you are methodical on your stuff but even so, slips happen.

I paid 150.00 plus tax and shipping for the syncros and 115.00 plus tax and shipping for the seals bearings and shim kit.

Mine was a little cheaper because I got the 1-5 syncro's, the seal kit and the differential roller bearings and shim kit only. I didn't need to replace the other bearings. They were still in great shape.

This is looking good. If you wouldn't mind attaching the pictures to the posts, that would protect the thread from losing the pictures if photobucket ever has an issue.

take a mic to the axle where the seal rides and compare to the old one. at least then you know it's the seal for sure

nice write up and very good pictures! one thing i want to point out is to not to put antiseize on splines of the input shaft of the transmission. You're suppose to use high temp lithium grease.

On the site it says $275, and you say you paid 150 is that some kinda deal threw HT or have the prices gone up?

I appreciate the detail and time you took to do this. I'm a big fan of never-seize, but it's more for metal-on-metal applications like bolts. Axle seals should always be oil or grease. Possible some metal flake damaged the rubber seal, but it's hard to say.

Re: My Integra GSR Transmission Build/Assembly
I never put anti-seize on the axle seal, must be confused. I put a little on the throw-out bearing where it slides back an forth on the input shaft.
