You can guess all you want, but unless you get some hard numbers to calculate the MPG, ain't shit gonna get done. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif But if the needle drops down as quickly as you say, something's definitely weird. As a reference point, I fill up around 9 gallons on average, usually driving up to 250-270 miles. Ends up--again, on average--to be around 26-28mpg city/freeway for my '98 GS-R with 68000 miles. Figure out the MPG on the next fill up.

Wow. We can present 20 or more reasons why you may have bad gas mileage. Do you guys even know what you should be getting according to your manual? You guys are throwing out all these numbers but you haven't tried trouble shooting. It took me almost a month to figure out why I was getting such bad gas mileage. I now get 30 miles per gal and I'm happy as a pig in shit. Theres no definitive answers to your problems. It will most likely be different for everyone. But a tune up is a good place to start.

what else can you do to troubleshoot the problem? I've already done the tune-up and my baby is at 72k. She's a 99 LS. Cheers mate https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

omg some of you guys are getting really good gas mileage. i wish i was hitting above 250. i find myself getting more mileage when i change the spark plugs and changing the oil and shifting at 3.5 . i dont know about you guys, but tune ups saves me a lot of gas.

EDIT: uhhh na na. another 2nd page pawn.

Yeah, those numbers would really help, remember though, it's more accurate when u have a full tank, reset ur trip meter, drive, then when it's time to fill up again...fill it up full and divide the amount u fill up with with how many miles are on ur trip.

I'm not sure if u said this is the first time it happened. Because not much wear & tear can happen overnight for u to lose that much gas, unless someone put a leak in ur tank.

But....

u said u filled up with $10/2.249=about 4.4 gallon.

if ur driving 25 mins to nd from work (highway), if ur going on average 70mph (guessing theres no traffic at 5am), then... 25+25=50mins, 50/60(1hr)=0.833, 0.833x70= about 60 miles traveled. plus lets say 25 miles (that long road he drove, and misc driving) = 85 miles.

85/4.4 = about 20 mpg. there might have been more driving done, but if it is 20 mpg, it's pretty bad. But then my numbers aren't that accurate. if u were driving 80mph on the freeway there could be more miles traveled.

So after u come back and fill up again show us ur numbers. if it's all bad, as others have said, get a tune up, best thing u can do for ur car https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
