The lug nuts on my 2001 gsr keeps becoming loose. This is only happening on the left front wheel. And yes, I have tightened them as tight as I possibly can. They become loose to the point where they are ready to fall off. Is there a reason why this is happening? (Note: they are not stock ones, they are enkei's I think)

grab some plain old lugnuts either from honda or autozone. Or you could check your threads to see if maybe the actual thread on the studs may be worn. stuff happens. Good luck.

replace your lugs. If they fall off agian get new wheel studs.

There are two possible causes, and based on your opening post, it sounds like both of them are happening.

First, when you tighten lug nuts, you need to use a torque wrench set to 80 lb-ft. (It sounds like you are not using a torque wrench at all.) A torque wrench is a tool that makes sure you tighten parts as tight as they need to be without overtightening them. You use the wrench to tighten the lug nut until it clicks - don't go past that point. Click on this photo if you want to order a good, inexpensive torque wrench (you'll also need to buy a 19 mm socket, and an extension to keep the torque wrench away from the body of the car is a good idea too):



Second, you need to make sure you have the proper kind of lug nuts, IOW with the correct shaped seating area (the area of the lug nut that comes into contact with the wheel). See the diagrams below. Honda/Acura wheels have a radius/ball shaped seating area, and need lug nuts that have a radius/ball shaped seating area. Most aftermarket wheels have a conical/tapered shaped seating area, and need lug nuts that have a conical/tapered shaped seating area. It sounds like you are using aftermarket conical/tapered lug nuts with Honda/Acura wheels, which is a no-no because they won't make contact with the wheel across the entire seating area.





So make sure (a) you're using a torque wrench, and (b) you have the proper shaped lug nuts for your wheels. If both of those are happening and your lug nuts are still coming loose, then try replacing the lug nuts (you can buy them for about $3 each at Autozone). If the new ones are still coming loose, then you should replace the studs/lugs that the lug nuts screw onto.
