I installed the Felpro oil pan gasket on my B18C about a month ago, so far no leaks!

I think the trick is to make sure you torque it on properly.

I'd like factual experiences with the Felpro before I throw money away. My engine is on a stand and won't be installed until late June, not in a rush.

i also vote for all things myhondahabit.
leaks didnt stop right away
but i'm now leak free so it was worth it.
fel-pro makes good stuff but
the original design stinks so it's not really their fault. 8(

I didnt really have any luck with the felpro oil pan gasket. It seemed to work well through the first oil change, but then shortly there after i could see oil started to seep between the pan and block. Not long after that, it actually blew out right behind the exhaust manifold. I thought, well you dummy you torqued it too much. so i gave it another shot. I went through and really made sure my bolts werent over torqued. Same thing happened though with the next felpro gasket. It lasted a little longer, but i got the same result. After that i went with the oem part from honda.

I run an OEM gasket myself, but have seen the MyHondaHabit gasket and extended stud kit perform very well. For the price of either, it is cheap insurance for no leaks. I wouldn't use Felpro anything on my Honda motors.

Eh. I use Felpro as much as I can. Have never had a problem with any of their stuff, on any of my cars. But this post isn't about your's or mine's preferences.

I asked because this Felpro gasket looks just like the Myhondahabit's gasket, but cost less. Looking for people who have used it. Nothing more. I already know the MHH gasket is decent, but wondering if there is another contender on the market.

the fel-pro i used was the old design, no good.
also tried victor and honda, no dice.
otherwise i've had good luck with fel-pro.
but for head gasket i paid $80 for acura instead of $40
for fel-pro. who knows they might be the same
but for 40 clams extra why not?
i'd actually try the permadry if i need another but
hopefully i'd badger the honda habit guy into a freebie if it gets ugly lol.

Not yet. My built engine isn't going in until after smog in December.

someone on here did use this particular gasket. I recall they had pictures. I'm all about getting oem parts but I did state in that thread that this fel pro gasket look like it would do the job.

I am using the gaskit and stud kit from MyHondaHabit and so far it is good. I had oem gasket and the leak did not stop.

I finally got around to using this gasket, car has been sitting for a couple years. Had a really bad oil pan leak, swapped this in.

The install clips this comes with eases install. The torque limiters keep you from squishing the gasket out.

The gasket sealed right away, didn't seem like it needs to swell.

Been a few hundred miles and there is no leaks, oil pan is dry. I will buy this again when I put my next engine together.

One from Honda would have been just as fine. Torque specs for the oil pan stud/bolts is 10ft lbs. That's usually where people mess up...over-torqueing them.

This. But its a good thing felpro included them so I guess its a fail safe. OP report back after a yr or 2 if you can.

Just another gasket that people may use. I like the features over the OEM one, so, I'll keep using it. My engines wont do many miles, but the ones she puts on will be hard miles. If the gasket leaks or doesn't, I'll keep this up to date.

this time the permadry didnt cut it, went back to hondahabit,
still leaks a bit but seems to be slowly sealing up.

Oil pan is straight? not bent up? I'm talking the mating surface.

pan is brand new, block mating surface...not so much. 8(
25 years and 378k takes its toll.
still so much fun so that's the most important thing.
and free oil change w/o crawling under it.

I've now installed two of these, one with a stock oil pan, the other with a Moroso steel pan. Worked great both times with no leaks.

myhondahabit is still the way to go i guess but it takes some time to really seal up.
the new wrinkle is a can of engine restore at oil change time.
wunfastgsr said it's good stuff and oil leaks magically (almost) disappeared. it's a miracle!:lol:

Engine restore is great stuff, but afaik it has nothing to do with oil leaks. It helps revive the cylinder to wall clearance so it bumps up your compression psi for a while. My old engine from years ago was at like 80-90 psi in cylinder 2 and engine restore would get it up to 140ish for about 1000 miles or so.

I used the Fel-Pro permadry plus and no leaks whatsoever, it’s hands down better than OEM which is pretty crazy.
Ive never used the Hondahabit gasket so I can’t comment on that.

The metal liner does an awesome job limiting over tightening.
