Jdm b16a pressure build up in coolant, head gasket?

Jdm b16a pressure build up in coolant, head gasket?
Need help identifying this issue.
Thought it was a head gasket but...
Did a compression test and surprisingly all between 175 and 200 psi. Going to try a proper leak down test but my impromptu test showed me that there were no bubbles or overflow from the radiator when I pressurized the system 100psi tdc all the right steps.. So I'm not sure now...I even fired up my George foreman grill and dropped some oil from the cap on it and nothing boiled away so there's not contaminants or water oddly. Only thing is that the oil looks like it hasn't been changed in a year but it's new, could be due to the motor sitting for a while and clearing out old contaminants for the brief time I have ran it. Main issue being that the cooling system is pressurized. Could be a faulty water pump, could be a faulty radiator cap. Not sure...air is definatly getting into the cooling system but in not sure from where, unless it's just faulty cap.
Running no thermo for the moment. Putting it back in tomorrow.
One thing I'm super stumped on is that when I allow more air flow to the engine via hood opened or external fan, the car starts revving on it's own to around 2k. I then shut the hood and it drops back down. Definitely a leak somewhere but I'm not sure from what and why it doesn't do it when the hood is closed and or no external fan.
If anyone has had these issue please let me know.
