Default transmission problem??

Pretty new to driving and cars in general. I just recently got a 1995 Integra LS and I have a question. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but on my gear box (it is automatic), i have to press the button on the side of the stick to make it go from P to R which i know is normal, but from R straight down to D2, i don't need to hold onto the button, it just goes straight down if i pull it down. Going back up it does the same thing but from N to R, i need to hold onto the button. Is there something wrong with my transmission or is that normal?

Also I read alot of articles about Integras being stolen, what safety precautions should I take to make it so I don't get it stolen. (I know it's not 100% that it won't get stolen, but any helpful tips would be appreciated.)

Thanks for the info about the auto integras and desperate thieves. I live in a pretty grimey neighborhood to begin with but your response gives me reassurance.

if you would really like peace of mind, i guess you could install a fuel cutoff switch. look in security/audio/video forum for the links. very informative and you could do it yourself for under 20 dollars. good luck

hmm i looked through it and found it. When I bought the car, it came with some lock thing for the transmission, but i hear those are useless. One question is, how does the kill switch work, or rather how would I check to see if my car has it already, because I'm not sure if it does or not. I remeber there were times that I tried starting the car up once before but it didn't start but i wasn't sure if that was a sercurity thing.
