Mine does this to. Main Realay is most likely the cause because i have noticed wen it does this if i bang the dash where the main relay is bolted to it fires right up..

i was having the same prob but wasnt throwing any codes. after messing with a couple things i checked the voltage on my tps and it was off a bit. i readjusted it and i have not had a prob with my car starting since(almost 2 months). give that a try

How would a main relay affect gas mileage though? Doesnt the relay only control IF there is fuel not the amount?

Mine was the ECT sensor. Most likely your problem. Only like 20 dollars.

Just want to add my 2 cents. If you come across this thread while trying to figure out what is going on with your car (like I did) make sure you have fuel & spark. If you have both and you have hot start symtoms as quoted above it is the ECT. I replaced mine and it has seemed to fix the problem. I will add, be careful when tighting the new ECT. I was shocked how easily the damn thing snapped right off. Standing in front of your car with an ECT broke off flush in the engine block is not a fun time. Had to buy some "easy outs" to remove it. Autozone swapped it out as a damaged part, that was a plus. Also, this was a 96 gsr.

I have a 95 teg with similar problems but it dies sometimes after driving it and the idle is always at 1k rpm and has a lagged start in cold starts, but recently it doesn't start at all, my brother is a mechanic but lives across country and says it might be the fuel pump can anyone give feedback on this

the usual suspects:

Honda Acura Essential Electrical Repair Website. Troubleshooting Main Relay, Coil, Igniter, etc.

ignition coil is my #1 no start villain.
always carry a spare.
main relay/icm/ fuel pump
will also likely dump on you at some point.
