Default Integra Dies while driving... getting worse... help!!

Ok... here's my problem...

I picked up a built integra about a week ago... everything has been fine, car ran great, no problems at all. Tonight while i was out and about the car needles dropped to zero as if the car was shut off but it seemed to be still running... i pushed the clutch in and the car died.... I pull over to the side of the road and tried to crank it... i tried a few times, let it sit, finally it fired up...

I drove a mile down the road, deciding to come home... and it does it again... needles drop to zero, car seeming to be at idle and when i push the clutch in, it dies... and of course i attempt to crank it a few times... nothing... then, after a few minutes, it fires up and idles fine...

well... the car repeated this until i finally got it home... it happened with less time in between each time it did it... finally it died one last time in my driveway and i tried to crank it... i let it sit and tried again... still nothing...

now the car will not start as of the last time i checked... it seemed to get progressively worse on the way home...

Anyone have any ideas? ignition switch? alternator? battery?

It still has fuel pressure, fuel pump is working.

Please use the search function. These types of problems have been covered a million times.
Once you tried every check and fix, then you ask a question like this.

What year car you got would help too?

its definitely something electical thats killing the injectors... after the car died, we tried turning over the motor and we pulled a plug wire and it was getting spark... so it cant be the distrubitor

... whatever it is, its stopping the injectors from shooting fuel/getting pulse... any suggestions?

are you sure you are getting fuel..?

possible causes:
fuel filter clogged
too much back pressure (clogged cat) of something of that nature

i was in the same boat as you, i got the same symptoms and everything and after searching around and asking question i found that it could be the main relay
the main relay from the factory is kinda faulty you would need to resolder it
if that doesnt work then try the other things like distributor etc

Make sure your fuel pump is working. Sounds like the same problem I had in a car a week ago.

And I couldnt get my car integra to start check the Coil in distributor

Why are members on this site so uptite? This site has lost some old posts and using the search function wouldnt help at all times.
Oh and the main relay could be the problem or the distributor, I had this issue and it turned out to be the main relay.

I had the same problem as you in my 98 civic. im not sure if its the same as the teggy's but the main relay ended up being the problem bought new one from honda for 60 bucks and so far so good.Good luck hope it helps. Oh and next time it dies when u turn the key off and back on listen for the relay to click if no click then defenitely a bad relay

Had the same problem with my 92 integra.

They had recalls for the distributer for the bearings going bad and the Ignition Control Module going bad (in the distributer)

Does the RPM needle hop around sometimes during higher RPM's? The wires were just loose on mine and had no problem since.

Dude i was in the same boat you are..well mine is a 95 gsr aswell..i was told it was my fuel pump and i replaced it and it wasn't it..then they said that it could've been my distributor and it wasn't it either. so i bought a new main realy. and the same.
so a friend of my dad came to see that car and asked me if i had done anything to the car.
the car was pretty much stock except for a kill switch..
and it ended up being the kill switch..
hope that helps man..

FYI Same problem manual 99 Integra GS non-vtech dies after driving 7 minutes from cold engine. Cranks but no ignition until you wait 4 or 5 minutes. Then starts and runs. May repeat or may not. Idle may initially be lower. It was the Ignition Control Module in the distributor (very discolored from heat). It was *not* the main EFI relay in my case nor the ignition switch nor the crank position sensor.

9 out of 10 times its either the ICM or coil in the distributor, and I bet it was your coil! both are easy to diagnose and cheaper than buying a new distributor.

It still has fuel pressure, fuel pump is working.
from what I have read it can be the MAP sensor or Master relay switch most of the time. Easy things to replace mostly.

A common sign your ICM is going bad is erratic RPM needle, either going bonkers like your revving the **** out the engine or no tach at all! then the engine starts to die and wont start up till you let it sit and cool down.. once the ICM cools down it will allow you to start the engine again.

The issue is heat soak! we use Thermal paste from the electronics store its like $2 a small tube and I coat the heat sink the ICM is bolted too, this protects your new ICM from getting heat soaked in the future!
