Installing AEM short intake
I'm going to install a AEM short intake on my 99 GSR. My question is, how much of a pain in the ass is it to replace the coolant line that runs directly underneath the throttle body and under the breather hose? That looks to be the most daunting part of the install...

Re: Installing AEM short intake
Is that required for install??

Re: Installing AEM short intake
Yeah, the coolant and breather lines are one piece that can't be seperated, so both need to be replaced with the supplied hoses, at least that's what the directions say.

Re: Installing AEM short intake
Hmm I've always just left mine & run a tube from intake to valve cover. Of course, it would look cleaner taking the metal pieces out and using the supplied tubes.
Quick google search gave this: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showthread.php?p=337645 CAI but same process for the most part |
Re: Installing AEM short intake
Thanks, I'll go outside and stare at it and brainstorm for awhile ;-)

Re: Installing AEM short intake
Use a tube to connect the valve cover to the intake and leave the rest alone. Mine is just connected to the other line and sits doing nothing.

Re: Installing AEM short intake
I ended up replacing the coolant hose, it was a huge pain in the ass especially with the way the GSR intake manifold turns downwards and the clips were pointing away from me. Ended up having to cut it off. In the end it does look cleaner though.
