HOW TO: RSX Seats in an Integra
Hey everyone,
Maybe some of ya read my thread a while ago when i first got my rsx seats and put them in the teg, but since then i found a much better way of installing them. THey are SOLID now and since numerous people have been asking me how i got them to fit, i thought i would share how i did it.
Parts needed:
One heavy duty strip of 1/4 inch steel 1-1/2 x 48 inches long
one strip of metal ( use what you want, i used some wood connecter piece, see pic)
6-8mm bolts/washers to go into the existing front holes, and back outer holes
2-10 mm bolts/washers to go into the back inner holes
6-8mm(of whatever you prefer) bolts/washers/ and nuts to connect the bracket extenders to the seat(explained later)
1- black paint pen to paint the bolts, washers, and metal to black for cosmetics
Drill to drill through steel
hacksaw to cut the steel
Blue Locktite (optional i guess but i did it anyways)
and alot of freakin patience to line everything up right!!!!
Heres the pieces of Steel i used. The one below is aluminum and its used on the back holes.
First I used a cardboard strip and poked holes in it to it to see where i would cut and drill the steel strip...
I dont know how hard this will be to explain but ill try my best(pics might do better justice) but the inner front bolt goes through the steel strip, and through the seat bracket into the origional floorboard hole. The middle hole bolts the seat bracket and the steel strip together, and the outer strip bolts the metal strip to the origional front outer floorboard hole.
When i origionally tried to do this, it didnt fit. The bolt and washers along with the thickness of the steel strip wouldnt fit, so i took a hammer to my floorboard exactly where the top of the bolt(underside of the steel strip) would go...
and now it will slip right into place...
The back seats are not this complicated. basically you bolt an metal strip to extend the origional seat bracket in the desired direction you want it to go.
So if the back origional seat brackets bolt to a piece of metal, and that bolts into the origional floor pan holes.
Touch them bad boys up wit the paint pen, and i think it looks pretty good...
I can take more detailed shots if this doesnt explain it correctly. Just let me know.
Also give me some feedback. Maybe it wasnt such a good idea as i though. The reason for the long bar in the front is so that the seat doesnt rotate up or down. I didnt think it would be necessary on the rear bolts. I hope this might help somebody whos thinking about doin the RSX seat thing. I think it was a good investiment, but it was a pain to install correctly.

nah they sit higher than stock integra seats. I heard that S2k seats sit pretty low though, but there usually more expensive than the RSX ones. I got them off some guy selling in the classifieds section of craigslist.com for 450. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by PissedoffGS-R »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Not to be a dick but there is IMO a better way of doing this. yea I didnt have seat pans to swap with since i sold my old seats. Thats not really a dick thing to say though. I dont know how much work would be involved in swapping seats, but its probably a better thing to do than how i did it
Thanks guys

i dunno man, maybe like was said you can use your integra seat pans and rails and swap that out. Not really sure but you would have to do somethin like that

They do sit higher and also more towards the front of the car. Thats the one down side that i can see after i installed em, but it is still comfortable for me and im 6 feet tall. When i went autocrossing the helmet fit too with no problem so its still a comfortable ride, id say about an inch higher and maybe a few inches forward. Nothing major, i just adjust the seat to where its comfortable...
Thanks again

Re: HOW TO: RSX Seats in an Integra
The S2K seats are definitely lower. I picked up a set this summer. The front 2 bolts will bolt in with a little tapping from a nylon/rubber mallet. They don't need any kind of fabricating, just a little bending. The rear 2 bolts are a whole different ball game. I haven't done them yet because I have been concentrating on the engine build. I think I will do seomthing similar to the article here. BTW, I might be selling the stock seats if you guys are interested. They were done in custom black and red vinyl by a local shop. Came out awesome!!

could u show some more pix of the rear bracket extensions that u used?
one rear bolt fits into the chasis on an angle, which is a bit tricky, so id like to see how u did it. it looks great btw!

This is the only other one that i have. Ill take some more and post those also. I think you can see where the seat bolts onto the bracket though in this one.
