Default How long can you expect an Integra to last?

i just got myself a 98 with 85k on it. Im going to keep it in the best shape i can because im going to need it through college +. i guess what im trying to ask is how long (average, obviously not an exact number) can i expect it to last. the previous owner took excellent care of it and most of the miles were highway.

btw. it has a cat back and cold air intake that have been in for about 15k. thanx in advance for the help

If you take good care of it, over 200,000 miles. Alot of people here have tegs with alot of miles and they are still running strong. It all depends on how well you take care of it.

A noob? Learn to use the search. This exact topic was discussed about two weeks ago. Very long thread. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=615643

If you don't boost it, and you take good care of it, they'll probably last to 300,000.

Stay on schedule with everything. I'm in the same position as you (college commuter + some after), 'cept my car has 45k on it. I think as long as your pay attention to the car's needs, then it'll run for a long time. Do a search...some people have 200k+ mile integras on here.

As has already been said, just depends on how you take care of it.
My beater is an 88 Civic 4dr with 245,300 miles on the original motor and tranny and still runs great (including still getting about 37mpg )

As long as you take care of the car, the car will take care of you.

Do all services and ****.
-Oil and filter changes every 2500-3000 miles
-Coolant Flush every 2 years
-Brake Fluid changes every (what is it? 60K miles? i forgot)
-Brake pad changes/Tire changes/rotor resurfaces (make sure your tire doesn't have alignment wear. and make sure they're balanced so you don't wear ur suspension parts more than necessary)
basically do all the regular services and you're fine
Also
Check your car from time to time.
You might want to check a few things once a week:
-Oil Level and quality (just in case)
-Brake fluid
-Coolant level (and don't use water to fill it up. use factory coolant. i don't know what color acura uses)
-Tire treadwear (make sure you don't have abnormal tread wear)
-Shock test (make sure they hold)

-Maybe check the air filter every now and then (not necesarily every week)
-Make sure the battery has enough distilled water in it (unless if it's maintenance-free)

These were just minor services. If you need to do bigger things like synchro changes, and Clutch replacements, be on track with those too.

You know, just check things and always be on track for your wear and tear parts. I know I didn't list everything. But just be up to par.

I'm sure you know most of this anyways, but just drive in regularly. You can drive it hard, but don't do it all the time, or too much. Again, your car will last a long time as long as it's taken care of. No need for a rebuild as long as it's fine

Good luck

1997 Acura Integra LS, with 250,000 miles. Oil change every 5K miles. Original transmission. Original engine, water pump and timing belt change with valve adjustment. Full front and rear suspension change, arms, bearings, springs, shocks, ( I mean all). New Tires, transmission oil flush. Eng oil flush, break fluid bled and flushed. New Engine mounts 3 each, New transmission mount 2 each, AC recharged, Fresh Alignment, tire balance and rotated. New valve cover replacement. And runs very good. Original owner and I did all the work. 31 Years as a Professional Mechanic.

I wish you were as good at not bumping 15 year old threads as you were at car maintenance....

The original motor in my Integra made it to ~240k before it was burning enough oil to make me want to replace it.

Follow the factory maintenance schedule. DO NOT SKIP TIMING BELT SERVICES.

Edit: GOD DAMMIT I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS THREAD WAS THAT OLD. That explains where OP got the 85k mile Integra though.

Integra will last however long you would like it too, as long as you maintain it properly..

I just hope Honda doesn’t stop manufacturing parts..

I asked the same question before buying my 01 this year with 146k miles. People have showed me their Integras easily passing 325k miles. Just have to take care of it and perform the proper maintenance. Another key is if you notice something, don’t drive around until it breaks, get it checked out as that one thing may cause strain on other parts. For example I noticed I had a leak. Come to find out it was my water pump, it never been replaced at 140k miles(recommended at 125k). Well since it had to have timing belt removed, I got new ac/ps/ and alt belts, new timing belt, cam and crank seals, valve cover gasket all done in one go. I did the oil pan gasket and v tec gaskets myself. Needless to say, no leaks anywhere(but I’m losing a quart every 500-700miles so I think it might be PCV, retainers, or one of the main seals). Anyways, just stay up to par with everything and you’ll be fine.

This is the one thing most 'new to me' car owners don't understand, they would rather wait for it to break down and then repair. Sometimes waiting for it to break down would probably end up costing you more than it should've been.

Default Re:How long do they last you ask??? How long can you expect an Integra to last?

I own a 91 acira integra. . I bought it from the orihiona l owner 3 years ago with 202,000 miles on it. Its all original No Chopping up kid stuff. I paid 2700 for the car and an extra set of aftermarket rims and tries. I've kept the car all original and sold the aftermarket rims and tries to recoup 400 bucks for what I paid . Yes it was a 1 owner car and I am the second owner . I have absolutely no regrets about the vehocal . it a 1.8L 5 sped manual B series. It now has 271,000 the original tranny and engine
the car is still tight and runs like a scalded dog when ya get on it . The power is surprising ! Especially with the mileage . kept the oil changed and other than new CV joints, bratake pads ,gas and oil jihad no issues . its still my DD and as how long it will last and how many you can get out of one the jury is still ouit guys . I'm batting on 500,000 myself ? What do you guys think.
