how light can you get a DA9? weight reduction questions

ok so i really like da integras, but id want to use it for my street/strip car. i think the ls/gs da9's weight like 2650 or something very similar. i plan on running pretty much nothing but carpet from the front seats back, but i cant see that buying me more than 100 lbs. anything else i can remove??? does anyone have a weight on a stripped down da9?

The lightest my DA has weighed in at is 2260. That is with no back seats or carpet. I also still have the sunroof in it and that thing weighs a ton! Its possible to get it pretty light..just have to work at it. You can also get JDM bumper supports and that takes off some weight too.

You can always remove power steering, cruise control, abs. You can also remove the rear wiper and motor. Then you can always also get the jdm bumper supports since they are lighter but lack a lot in safety so thats kind of up to you.

damn 2260 isnt bad at all! my other option currently is an eg hatch, just cuz they are like 2080lbs or some shit. the car will have ~400whp and i want it to run 11's

i guess if i start with an rs its only like 2550 or something similar.

the car wouldnt have air conditioning because it wouldnt fit with the turbo setup(which is gonna add some weight).

whats the deal with the jdm bumper supports? ive never heard of people doing it. does anyone have a link or something to pic or a place i can find one? thanks

There was a GOOD thread not to long ago about a guy who did weight reduction and weighed every item...The ac alone was 76lbs.

my 91 rs now weights in a little under 2300lbs.

i remember seeing the chart somewhere, prolly on g2ic i think, i just cant find it currently.

all of you guys getting your tegs down to the 2300lb range is giving me some hope to get one light enough that i can use it

If your wanting it to be stripped and your not worried about having much interior or AC then you can easily get it to weigh less than 2300 lbs. Tons of things to take out of the engine bay that you may not need or want plus the interior.

Re: (mrsdlandaperformance)

yea i know. im figuring a stripped out eg would weigh about 2000lbs give or take 25 or so, but then add on about 75 more for the b swap, so ill just say 2100. i doubt id get teg that low, but in the 2200-2300lb range would be ok for me, cus then its just about 2500 with me in it and the turbo crap, which is about 250lbs lighter than i am now

If your wanting something to fly and not weigh anything...the EG might be a better route but you can get the DA to come down a lot too...just have to find all the tricks and small stuff! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

start replacing body panels with CF or fiberglass, and replace the glass with the pastic ones. also rmove and plug your sunroof if you have one.

lightweight flywheel will shave some weight, so will removing the stock exhaust system. get some dry ice and get rid of all the sound deadening.

all good suggestions guy. thank you!

im still up in the air, im just an idecisive person.

might just have to bore to 84mm instead of 81.5 to make some extra power and offset the weight haha https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif
