how to fix your iacv.. gsr .. no more surge. idle surge fix
O rite this is how i fixed my idle surge maybe it can work for you too. Before you go and buy a new IACV try this.
Step 1 .. remove your IACV from manifold
step 2 blow into the whole and see if their is air passing through if so theirs your problem because it should only allow air throught if it has power opening the solenoid. it takes a very little piece of dirt to stop the solenoid from completely closing and blocking off air.
Step 3 take some carb cleaner clean it out until you do not see dirt(b4 you power the solenoid. (make sure the screen is clean)
Step 4 take a ground and a power wire to the solenoid to open it(it should click if not your solenoid bad or your not getting power to it) keep the power on the solenoid with the ground so it stays open then spray carb cleaner into it this will release the dirt that cant be reached while the solenoid is not powered.. blow it out with a high pressure compressor to make sure you get all the dirt out. take the power and ground off so the solenoid closes now try to blow in it again if theirs less air sneaking through the holes your on the right track i had to do it twice to get everything out of my iacv. it takes a little bit of time but it is very worth it. <YOU MUST POWER THE SOLENOID WITH A POWER AND GROUND TO REALLY CLEAN IT OTHERWISE YOUR NOT CLEANING THE DIRT THAT IS CAUSING IT NOT TO SEAL CORRECTLY THUS LETTING AIR SNEAK BY CAUSING THAT ANNOYING SURGE.> everyone knows the surge is annoying. and my surge came just from a mani swap so its easy for this solenoid to get clogged up.. if you have any Q's Message ME

The IACV is only held by two bolts to the mani so i think its the fitv which my 96 does not have.. unless your talking about the pin that is covering the solenoid cover which i did not take off.

I believe the IACV is only meant to handle 5V DC. And too much compressed air can probably damage the valve seat.
