Get a hose clamp somehow underneath it. Also the Viagra may do the trick.

How to make your shift boot look normal with an aftermarket shift knob 101:

Your shift lever is tapered, smaller at the top and gets bigger as you go down.

Take a large washer or rubber grommet (the latter is preferred) and slide it over the top of the lever. Note where it sits. Determine the height or thickness of the plastic clip/bushing at the top fo the shift boot.

Make it so that washer or grommet sits in just the right place on the stick that the plastic clip sits just under the shifter knob. You'll have to estimate this. The rubber grommet is better for this because you can pull it to the top of the shaft after you adjust your knob tension nut/set screws to. You'll be able to get it right under the knob with little/no gap.

If you use a grommet, you can install it without taking apart the center console. Just pull the shift boot up over the stick, slide the grommet through the opening at the top and maneuver it by hand through the shift boot.

it sits probably 2 inches below the shift knob on mine.

Well i too have a cheap itr $25 knob (that i love). The problem with my shiftboot is that it couldn't stay attached at the bottom of the knob even if i wanted it to. You see, since the knob is so short, when i go into reverse, the boot can't stretch that far. It really doesn't bother me though.

I need to do something about my shift boot, it sags even below the stock GS-R knob, and the plastic ring on the boot makes a nasty rattle against the shifter when I get up around 7K rpm or higher. http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

I just wrapped a some black electric tape right under the knob and pulled the boot up...voila.

the oem knob kit comes with a plastic piece that wedge between the boot and knob. That keeps the boot up. Go to your local dealer and see if they can order you one.

Rubber bands rot and break over time, especially in a hot car. Electrical tape leaves a gooey mess and it moves over time. I think the zip tie idea might just be the ticket.

>>Little known zip tie fact: White zip ties are not UV resistant, the black ones are however. If you don't believe it look at a white zip tie that's been out in the sun for a long time, they break eventually.

as stated above, rubber bands will rot and break over time.

My short shifter is the same height as stock. The Razo shift knob I used to use went down over the shifter much lower than the stock one, so the boot had nowhere to go underneath it. Since I put the stock shift knob back on, however, the boot sags down and won't stay up. I think I'll try the zip tie idea. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
