My seat got stuck!!! Won't slide back.
Hey I was puttin a new cd player and stereo in my 98 gsr (and what a pain - ive installed alot of systems, but this was a bitch). Anyway, I went and slid the passanger seat the whole way up so I could get in the back.
Well when I went to slide it back it only went about 2 nothces on the rail (about an inch). It is almost all the way up right now; The seat slides the rest of the way up about an inch or so. Then will only slide about an inch back. I looked under the seat could not see any obstructions under or behind the seat. When I lift up the lever under the seat to slide it back the little latches on both rails release from the rails, so thats not it. Like I said I can not see any obstructions at all, however, when I slide it back it sounds like it is hitting something on the right (door side) rail. It sounds like when you slide the seat the whole way back. Also the seat reclines perfectly.
What should I look for? Any help would be great.

Maybe you got a coin or something stuck in the rail that you can't see ?
If you can still get to all the seat bolts, you might want to try and take the seat out so you can take a good look at the rails and see what's stopping it.
Or, if you are absolutely sure that there is nothing in the rails and nothing is broken. You can try sitting in the seat and pushing it back really hard to see if it can get past the sticking point, but this might cause more damage if something is actually broken.
With that said. I'd try and take out the seat first.

Yeah - it looks like that is what i am going to have to do. Have not looked at it to see if I can access all the bolts for removel.
Any other thoughts before I do that?

Did you have to take the seat out to get it out to get it? Because I cant see anything, so the only thing I am guessing that it is stuck inside the rail?

The cable that the lever pulls is either broken or popped off. Mine did this, I just unbolted the 4 bolts, pulled the seat out and fixed the problem. My cable had just popped off.

If the cable was broken, the one side would not move At All,
his moves back atleast two spots on both sides, so it couldn't be the cable.

Reading everything also helps.

Haha, yeah the cable releases both sides (both rails) thought it was kinda clear. But thanks for the help!

Try, and reach under there, the bolts are 12mm, get a wrench if a ratchet won't fit.
It will definitely be a lot easier to diagnose the problem then also.

Ok you got me. I am a illiterate bitch. Either way, pull your damn seat out and look. Its 4 bolts and takes 5 minutes. So I might have been wrong about the seat cable but I did give other advice. SEAT OUT!

Check for coins, one year, a penny got shoved into the shift assembly, and caused things to seize up...I take it all apart and flip it upside down to find a penny warped like the letter u. LOL

Well I have taken the seat out, and still can't figure it out.
The one rail (not the one attached to the slide lever) gets stuck. It will slide about 2 inches in either direction then just stops. I cant see anything stuck in the rail so I dont know where to go from there.
Any idea what else I can try.
