H Series Tranny on to B series block
I am have a 1994 Gsr and the tranny is going out. Soon i will be putting on a turbo kit on it and i know that alot of people put ls transmissions on gsr's because of the longer gear ratios. Is there any way of putting like a h22a transmission on my gsr on info would help Thanks.

Re: H Series Tranny on to B series block (doood)
So you think that a GSR tranny would be better than the ls. Either one will have a lsd put in it i am just thinking the longer gears would be better?

it really depends on your power goals...
If you plan on making a LOT of power, the gsr or b16/typer gears may be gone through too quickly.
Also, if you plan on making really quick 1/4 mile times, fact that you may not have to shift into 4th in the ls tranny may help you.
However, if you're not building your engine and maikng a LOT of horsepower, you wont need to shift into 5th anyways unless youre going 115 or so mph, and if its just a simple turbo kit, you wont really need that in the 1/4.
Basically, how much power are you wanting to make, and what kind of 1/4 mile times are you looking for?
The LSD would be a VERY good idea.

Re: (DOHCgarage919)
My goals as of now is put 6 pounds on it for now till the engine goes and then sleeve it and run high boost. Didn't know much about people putting B-Series Transmission in their H-Series motors so thanks for the info there. So Guessing just by that you guys are saying that for me the ls tranny would be the best for me cuz my goals will change after the motor goes so my as well do it right the first time instead of redoing it after i blow it up......... Now if i put a ls tranny in my car will it ever fall out of v-tech when shifting at redline. Thanks for the info guys really helping me out.

Re: (zlada14)
well first of all what are you looking for? high more max speed? or quickness? if your looking for a fast 1/4 mile go with a b16. shorter gears are alot better for that, but the down side is your max speed would be around 130MPH 5th gear at 8000 rpm and keep in mind at 80 mph 5 gear your RPMS will be around 4500 and if your car is loud it's a headache after a while. but if you want gas mileage and better top end speed ls would be the way to go though it will be slower getting to speed..

it's v-tec not v-tech. and you will fall out because the gears are longer.

Re: (Lauj87)
The main problem i have is that on the highway 5th gear at 80 is too high for me. I know you can put a 5th gear ls in the gsr tranny so i might just do that.

well you minus well just keep the GSR 5th gear. the cost of getting that 5 gear is a pain unless you do it your self. Not only that when you want to do some passing on the freeway being at a high rmp helps (so you don't have to down shift all the time)

no it's vtec
a gsr tranny at 80mph in 5th is nothing. 4000rpm isnt anything to complain about.
