GSR won't start, can't tell if blown motor or blown clutch??? Advice Any one
My buddy has 97 GSR with about 108,000 miles on a stock clutch. Anyway he was on his way home on the freeway when his car started making a ticking noise like if he had a lose valve or something. So he pulled off the freeway and went down the side streets, but he notice that when he would engage the clutch the ticking noise let off. So as he was driving down the street, there was a sudden pop and the car had shut off. He tried to start the car again but the started just clicks, not starter movement.
So now a group of us are trying to figure it out, but we’re all to damn busy so we’re going to crack her open on Wednesday. Well so far this is the possible things that could have happen:
1. Seeing that he was going to replace the clutch and the amount of miles that he has on the stock clutch, was it possible that one of the springs on the clutch disk had just broke off and wedge itself in the a way where the flywheel is stuck and wont let the motor crank.
2. He threw out a crank shaft bearing and basically locked up the crankshaft, thus not allowing the started to crank
I can’t think of anything else, but kinda curious to see what everyone else things cause like I said never heard of anything like that. The car is babied out and I am surprise its lasted this long on a stock clutch, but the car did have a tuned turbo on in for a few months.
