GSR tranny leaking oil from shift linkage pin!! HELP (pic. inside)

Hey everyone I recently got a gsr teg and the shift linkageis really loose when in nuetral. The guy said it was the pin that fell out and they had put a 12mm bolt. I check and yes it does have a 12mm and the nut so it won't fall out. But I noticed when shifting gears it leaks oil each time when shifting around the pin area and where it connects to the tranny. I don't know how to fix it or if the tranny is no good. But tranny drives fine with no grinds and it goes into gear. Here is a sample pic. (the area in red is were the oil leaks form and no not from the oil pan or anywhere else I've checked and when I shift the linkage from underneath the car it starts leaking)

please help asap thanks.

Have you fixed the leak yet, cause i have the very same issue and trying to find out how to fix it as well . Mine seems to be very loose while in gear aswell and i just do not know how to fix this issue. All bolts are tight. Let me know if you get yours fixed and what ya did.

That bolt and nut put pressure on the change rod going into the leakage and probably squeezed the rod, causing a leak around the seal. There's a reason why Honda designed the linkage with a spring pin - so it would apply even pressure from inside, as opposed to uneven point pressure from outside the linkage if a bolt and nut were used.

The transmission will have to be pulled and probably taken apart to replace the change rod or any other parts to keep it from leaking. That's going to be alot of money unless you know how to take apart the tranny yourself. Hope you didn't pay much for the car http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

No I still haven't fixed the issue, but yea I got really good deal on the car and that was the only problem. I'll probably take it to shop to have it checked out if its nothing to serious I can take it apart and fix it. I just maybe though it was a seal or something or maybe the PIN had a big part in it. Thanks for the help, once I find out for sure I will post up to let you guys know.

I had a leak there for the longest time too.
Pull out that linkage and boot. There is a seal there called the shift rod seal. Replace it. Sorry I forgot the part number for it. Dealer here didn't have it in the GSR catalog so I had them look for it in the Si catalog. Same part.

Re: (M2S~Jaime)

91215-689-013 OIL SEAL (14X25X16) $4.60

If that shift rod is damaged, then you may also need:

24311-PS1-000 ROD, GEARSHIFT $21.08

Also I highly suggest using the proper spring pin to secure the change rod linkage:

90751-S04-000 PIN, SPRING (8X22) $1.79

Prices are from Carland Acura http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org
