I meant does someone have a picture of the stock headlight housing, with HID's in them, I want to see how they look before I go out and purchase a set.

uhh no.. some turbo kits for da's are as much as the cars.. does that mean they shouldnt do it? NO..

i want to see some pics of this too.. but i heard that the light wont go as far or be as bright/concentrated in one area. its just goin to scatter the light. yeah it'll be brighter than stock, but you wont get the acutal "projection HID" look.

just spend like 200/300 on a set of projectors.. or i think theres a projection headlight mod you can do using some other car brand of projection headlights inside of our housings

dunno never understood that lemme put 5K into a 500 dollar car to get an unreliable, uncomfortable car. Myself I'd rather put taht 5K towards a better car

like into what? a G3? just cuz our cars are a lil bit older then ur g3's, doesnt mean there shit. people like to do resteration, and you get alot of respect modding an older car then you would a newer one. look at all the 57 chevy's that have come back from the dead, the nova's, pontiac cars, the t-birds.. etc etc..

theres g2's out there that are faster and better lookin then g3's.. theres g1's that will outperform the g2's and g3's.. just give respect to your roots. if there was no g2, there never would of been a g3.

and its not the matter that a set of rims would cost more than the car, its the matter that ur putting performance on a car.

i'd rather buy a g2, save me a couple of thousand, and start modding the car, while you guys, most of you guys probably have loans on ur cars, or did at one point, unlike me, i own the car, but u guys might still owe payments, which slow's down the process of modding out ur ride.. while i saved 3-10k on buying a g2 instead of a g3, and now can fully deck out the ride, even have enough for a RWD conversion maybe..

think about it

to the original poster, i can get u pics whenever i get a chance. BUT my opinion, just buy a good set of hid projectors from a car that was equipped w/ them oem. My hid kit was twice as bright if not more than my stock halogens but i regret spending the money on the kit. I woulda been better off buying some projectors and retro'ing them. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: (Cjsls)

G3 teg is just as bad...I mean 10K car in a 3K honda....just retarded...You can get a better car in every category u r trying \to go with the car. And I don't find G3 to be that much better...but at least its more modern and u can get away with a 94 looking \like a 2001 model....with an older car its a box so everyone knows its dated

Re: (njandrewg)

I bought the kit from xenondepot when he had a GB going on. I believe it was $320. The light output is very bright although it doesnt have near the clarity and cutoff as a projector does. I thought about getting some projectors and trying to retro them in but that cost about $600 from what I was told since I had to buy projectors as well as a HID kit. I just bit the bullet and bought the kit for my car and dont regret it one bit. It puts down way more light than the stocks. I'll try and get some beam shots one day. BTW I got the 4500k ones I think. They are not blueish/purple at all just clean white light.

Edit: I got a 90 DA btw and if you go to the site you can see the kit on a crx to give you an idea of the beams.

Re: (njandrewg)

in that case, why bother with a g3, why not just get an rsx if you want modern.

its not about the moderness of your car, or if parts cost more than ur car or not. its about a sport, a hobby, doing something you love. i love my g2 and i'd invest all the money i had in it. and plus, g3's are everywhere and to be honest with you, even tho they have the ITR and GSR.. i'd still rather have a G2 only cuz im sick and tired of seeing a g3 everywhere like i do a mustang. it gets anoying..

and just to let u in on a little bit of something..

i'd get 10x's more respect having a fully modded out G2 then i would of a G3..

Re: (njandrewg)

no, i mod my car because i want to, and because its what i like to do.. to other people's eyes, they see the car and think, wow.. not that many people would mod out a g2.. its rare to see a g2 in a good condition w/o dent's, nasty interior, blah blah..

you know you've seen a couple of g2's and think, "damn thats a nice car, damn, i give prop's to the guy for workin on that car..."

You are obviously in the wrong forum if you are goign to gripe/bitch about people modding their cars. Almost everybody on this forum has probably spent just as much or more than what they paid for their car. And yes, a lot of times its for respect, and a lot of times its for personal satisfaction. Nothing wrong with either of those motives.

exactly.. thanx for the back up.. i wasnt tryin to argue either, just tryin to prove a point

Slain 09-12-2004 10:05 PM

i have d2r phillips capsules in my 1pc headlights. i had to go through the grueling process of making a glare gaurd for them. the glare guard keeps access light from going upwards and blinding on comming traffic. the gaurds also gave an actual cut off on the wall. no where near a oem hid projector but alot better than just sticking them in there

Re: (jdmkrazie)

yessir same projectors I have in my G3.

That is the best way to go, and the cutoff is still pretty good even though it's behind a prismatic lens, not to mention with the bi-xenon you can still have high beam function (although you will need to wire up a relay kit that keeps low beams on when you switch to highs).

But if you're going to just put bulbs in the stock housings, at least do D2R's w/ shields, since those are made for reflector headlights, instead of some D2S bulbs made for projectors (like S2000 bulbs). D2S in the stock housing is going to give the worst possible beam pattern. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

As for cost, you can usually find a complete set of projectors, bulbs, and ballasts, or piece together those components, for around $400-$450 on eBay. I found E55 bi-xenon projectors for $150 shipped, a pair of brand new Philips D2S bulbs for $80, and re-used my ballasts from my previous VisualDynamics HID kit. The ballasts can be had for $100 each new, so that would be about $430 total. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Agreed, not to mention this https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=976472 :D! So what if I drive a box? Why would you care what I drive? Hell, I'd sport an 84 crx if I could.
