FAL fan???????
What are, if any the benefits of putting on a FAL thin line radiator fan? I slapped a Fluidyne radiator on my car and it seems like it runs just as hot as the stock one did, will tha FAL fan keep it cooler? Thanks in advance

Re: FAL fan??????? (Halo)
Stock temp gauge is nortoriously inaccurate. You will see a drop in temp with better gauge. Also, replace your thermostat with a lower temp. one. You don't really need a fancy fan. Stock fan will work just fine...it's not on 1/2 of the time anyways.

Re: FAL fan??????? (randomwalk101)
The Fluidyne Fan isnt suppost to be a upgrade from your stock fan it's a replacement because of the fact that there radiators are thicker than the stock one. If you use the stock fan with there radiator and you have A/C it's suppost of rub on somthing. I have the fluidyne Fan for the drivers side and it comes really close the the header's so i could imagine what would happen if i used the stock one. Also the stock fan on the drivers side wont mount correctly to the fluidyne radiator since there's not holes for it.

Re: FAL fan??????? (SystemGSR)
I have a Civic hybrid with no AC, so the fluidyne radiator is for the Civic (1/2 size of Integra). Where can I get one of these lower temp thermostats? And what should I ask for when looking for a lower temp. thermostat? Also just to the right of my radiator there is a plastic cover (just behind the front airdam that blocks off the header, should I take this out? It looks like by removing it, there would be a ram air effect on my motor?

Re: FAL fan??????? (Halo)
I have the Fluidyne radiator, too (in my GSR).
The Fluidyne shouldn't run any cooler than your OEM radiator did, unless you swap to a lower temp. thermostat. The Fluidyne will, however, increase your cooling cpacity -- a good thing if you're hybrid, F.I., etc. As for getting a lower temp. thermostat, it seems our options are fairly limited. From what I know, Spoon or Mugen (or both) sells one, surely for a rediculous sum of cash. But, I also hear that Jackson Racing sells one that's 10 deg. cooler than the stock thermostat (at least for the GSR), for only ~$10. They might have the same for the Civic. |

Re: FAL fan??????? (MarkC)
MarkC: Sorry, I don't have the FAL fans. I've got the Fluidyne radiator with an aftermarket (not FAL) A/C fan. Mine was a showa, though. I still have it. It's up in my attic. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: FAL fan??????? (ndustryalGSR)
1) if you purchased a "Fluidyne fan", you're SCREWED. It's simply a 11" universal fan which can be purchased at AUTOZONE for a fraction of the Fluidyne's cost. Noticed, this fan we are referring to is the condensor fan..not the radiator fan as someone mistakenly mentioned previously. Stock radiator fan will work with Fluidyne.
2) AutoZone sells the same thermostat as JR for $10...guess where JR got their thermo. from? Yes, the same part distribution center as Autozone. |
Re: FAL fan??????? (randomwalk101)
yeah but what should I ask the people at Autozone "do you guys have the thermostat that runs 10 degrees cooler than stock?"

Re: FAL fan??????? (Halo)
UPDATE: I just ordered the JAckson Racing thermostat for $9 bucks. I ordered the Civic thermostat is this the same as the Integra Thermostat?

Re: FAL fan??????? (Halo)
i got the fluidyne for my teg and use a stock fan and 10inch autozone fan works fine

Re: FAL fan??????? (alexboy)
Am I mistaken or does the ITR thermostat run cooler than the stock GSR and fits too? You can also use a redline product called Water Wetter that is supposed to keep temps lower. I have a bottle here but haven't put it in yet. but I know ppl who have used it and say it works.

Re: FAL fan??????? (Halo)
Halo, i have the part # for that thermostat for our teg. You should be able to pick the right one with that part # without any problem. Unfortunately, i'm at work right now and dont'have it with me...will give it to you when I get home.??

Re: FAL fan??????? (MarkC)
all the thermostats are the same for civic and integra all are 52mm so it doesnt matter what degree you get as long as it is a 52mm so when you go to buy one just say i need a 52mm thermostat that opens at 160
