Engine rebuild update
I pulled the motor today and completely dissasembled it.
I pulled the head/manifold first and then the block...left the transmission in the car.
The rods are not bent...and the bearings are not "shot"...so I guess what wasnt my knocking problem.
The bearings (top side) look fairly worn though, the bottom halfs look in very good shape. Why are the top side bearings worn and the bottoms not?
The cylinder walls still have the factory crosshatch markings..but also have some cracks/scrathes on the walls. What is that from? They are very smooth...but you can bearly catch your fingernail on some.
Kind of worries me...why would it crack/scratch?
There was water in the oil...which also puzzles me. Not alos of water...just a few specs here and there when I drained it. The headgasket didnt seem blown...but how would water get in the oil if I sucked it through the intake?
The dissasembly went well, took me about 8 total hours including removing the engine from the car.

Re: Engine rebuild update (HX_Guy)
could be condensation, if you make short trips with your car it wont get hot enough to get rid of it all. i dont see any other reason why it would be there. when i pulled my engine apart it had no scratches and i could still see the hone marks too. good luck and keep us posted

Re: Engine rebuild update (teg92)
Well I inspected the cylinders and they are not cracks...but scratches. Probably from dirt..I need to get a better air filter.
