How do you know if it's throwing a Check Engine Light? Look on the gauge cluster. Should be lit up if it is. Then you can have it scanned to find out the code. (Can do this at autozone for free if you don't have a scanner). Or you can short a few pins, but for now lets just stay with the OBD scanner.

Yeah, if you don't know how to see if your check engine light is on, lets go with the scanner. And here is a list of codes when you get there
