I see what the thread size is of this bolt, does anyone know the depth of it? i need to use helicoil or a timsert kit and re-do these holes.

If u look on the list of the parts for #19 it should list the bolt length in mm. Post up the full pic of the parts list

here it is, i clicked on the link to it too and it just says 10 x 1.25

U might try calling them and having them measure it. Usually it lists the length on the parts list. Or maybe a member on here can pull it out and measure for u?

Get a pencil or use a screwdriver, stick it in the hole, mark the depth of the pencil/screwdriver exposed, pull out and determine the depth based on the length of pencil/screwdriver on the other side of your mark.

The reason why there is no bolt length specified is the halfshaft bolt is shanked at the beginning and only partially threaded towards the end. The unthreaded portion is there to align and hold the halfshaft in place correctly. Make sure your bolts aren't just standard M10x1.25 bolts because they leave a void between the bolt itself and the halfshaft mounting hole. Regular bolts will back out and cause all sorts of drivetrain issues. There's a reason Honda charges almost 20 bucks for three bolts

ahh i did not know that! hmmm, that sounds like it may make it a little more difficult to re-thread this if it is not fully threaded the whole way down.

The actual hole on the block is threaded all the way down. I'm referring to the actual bolt not being fully threaded. The threaded portion is about 20-25mm.



The block where the intermediate shaft mounts to can be tapped or re-threaded if needed. If your bolts aren't like the ones pictured though, that's probably why the threads stripped out in the first place.

Oh oh oh. I got what you mean now. I may as well just order the replacement bolts and figure out the needed depth when they get here, or if i even need to retap. Maybe the correct bolt is all it needs.

Yes, the correct bolt with fresh threads may be a solution. Another option before re-threading is coating the bolt threads with loctite 222MS threadlocker. Its purple in color and is a low strength formula. All depends on how severe your situation is.

i attempted to thread in the bolts without any threadlocker to see if it would work better with the correct bolts. it threaded right in, however it never got any tighter. just spun and spun. i'll try some threadlocker next, but i have a feeling the damage to the threads is too much for threadlocker.
