Do-Luck Vtec Indicator
Hey
just spotted this guage on a S2000 in a magazine did a bit of research i have spoken to do-luck USA and they say they can send one to Australia.. just wanted to know if anyone has seen or has one they look pretty styleing http://www.do-luck.com/img/elec/indicator.gif http://www.do-luck.com/elec_indicator.html Jap site http://www.do-luck.com/elec_indicator.html USA Site |
But why do you need an indicator to let you know that you're in VTEC? Correct me if I'm wrong, but most people can feel it.

Re: (Kendall)
yeah i know its kinda ricey....but yeah thats whay i asked i dont know if i wanna spend the money
good point --- |
This is the way I see it:
A true performance vehicle sacrifices luxury in the name of performance, by eliminating the unnecessary. A VTEC indicator isn't necessary and thus would not be found in a true performance vehicle. |
Re: (Kendall)
yeah tru you make a good point thanks for the heads up Kendall.....
when i have done all i can maybe............maybe https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |

Welcome to HT fellow Seattle head.
The VTEC gauge is pretty rice IMHO. It seems to be waaay to tacky. A cool VTEC indicator would be something more subtle, like a like lighting up on the tachometer. That guage is just too flashy for only telling you that you're in VTEC... something that your engine should already tell you https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |
Re: (alfaaay)
It's only good with a Vtec-e motor. If you're going get one, just make one yourself. $2 at radioshack.
|
Re: (cyvic)
some guy on ebay is selling a vtec indicator that fits into the area around you parking brake light and oil light.
|
Re: (Shu_DC2)
I just placed a small light inside the factory gauge cluster, above the cruise control light. It's just a little extra from the ECU, like if it's sending the VTEC signal. IMO, I wouldn't pay more than $3 for a light that let's you know when VTEC engages.

Re: (m R g S r)
vtec light will be good for boosted car, can't really tell if the vtec kicks in once the boost hit.

Re: (hookonboost)
that is the most rediculous item I have ever seen. Its like having a boost gauge that just read "Boost" when you are boosting. Thanks, I think we know. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

Re: (sumyungguy)
they have some not-so-ricey Vtec lights at http://www.streetlightz.com but unless ur gonna rice it out i would stay away from stuff like that...but to each his own.
|
what would be cool is an oil pressure gauge that the backlight color changes when u hit vtec. less rice..........y do i always tell people my ideas before i do them? maybe cuz they are so stupid no1 will copy me?
|
WASTE OF CHANGE, JUST DONT SEE ANY POINT

Re: (BLAKEr)
hehe that would be cool KraZEtEggIE
* idea sold to Auto meter hehe https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |
Re: (lerroy)
you can make a vtec light for like under 5 dollars... just hook up a led light to a wire on your ecu.. i forgot what wire.. maybe vtec solnoid sp?
|
u do that and u have a smoking led. either hookup the vtec solonoid wire to an led and the other side solder a resister on and the other side of the resistor to ground. i would pust put a genaric 194 socket in my cluster where one of the other stupid lights was.

Okay for once, Doluck is trying to set an new pace in the us industry, therefore they are trying to create items that arent yet created in the U.S., that indicator was one of their ideas, Sorry to say, its something i think APC =X is going to try to copy and make, They should of created this indicator with a oil pressure meter that lets you know if the selenoid has full oil pressure to go along with the cool VTEC sign.
to me I think its leaning towards rice, It would be a good thing to have the setup I described earlier becuase when theres a fualty selenoid, vtec crosses over and makes the pop but doesnt pressurize the sucker so that you get maximum oil into the certs. |
