Do I need an Impact SOCKET for crank pulley?
I have the crank pulley tool, and i'm renting an impact gun over the weekend for the timing belt job.
I obviously have a 19mm socket but its not an 'impact socket'
Do I really need to buy an impact socket? Can i get away with what i got now with the impact gun? Or maybe buy a regular cheapy 6 point socket?
thanks...

I used a regular socket on mine. But keep in mind...if it's been a lot of miles since your crank pulley has been taken off its not going to come off with an impact gun. I had one set to 120psi and it wouldn't budge it. Took a 12ft breaker bar to get the sucker off...good luck.

Yea sometimes those pulley bolts are a pita to get off.... You don't have to have an impact socket but you might break yours so have an extra 19mm or just buy 1 impact socket and keep it around for the future. good luck

Re: Do I need an Impact SOCKET for crank pulley? (Dropped90Integra)
Find a think enough ally wrench to stick into the fly wheel, make sure its long enough to stick out the side of the flywheel past the little dip it has..it'll hold. i've broken many loose like that when i did have a crank pully holder, the STAR looking thing i have now, i did drop a ally wrench one time behind the flywheel, in the bell of the tranny, and yes it was abitch to get out, using some think piano wire from my grandpa and being patience for 45mins, i got it out without removing the tranny , so anyway, do that, if ur scaried about it breaking just have someone watch the allen wrench, its think and small it'll be hard to bend it..

I ended up using an impact socket mounted to a breaker bar to drive the bolt loose. I also used the crank pulley holder to keep it from spining. The first attempt was with a craftsman socket and a breaker bar. The socket broke!

The socket could explode.
Frankly I'd buy 1 19mm impact socket. Or wear safety glasses and hope it doesn't break the socket.

the socket could explode? I didn't know that
I don't know if i can buy just one impact socket locally.
and I have the crank pulley holder tool. so no jamming anything in the flywheel etc

I have never seen one explode (or used one for that matter), but all my manuals/safety things say that, they tend to know whats good for me, so I listen.
