Re: danteisme's 1996 DB8-Found and Rebuild Thread
Just the passenger side. I decided not to use the replacement panel i got for the driver's side. It was too messed up, it was repaired once before and it was all bondo and adhesive. It was too difficult to get it to work with how it was repaired.
and because of that i know how fully screwed i am if i need to make any repairs in the future to my rear panels because i too adhesived the replacements in lol

Gaah...I see this car staying with your for a long time. Enjoy it for now and out the repairs, just keep that replacement panel rust free.

holy crap...the panel just showed up my office today (save $75 on shipping for delivery to a business). it is huge, HUGE. they really cut off the entire rear quarter of the car. it barely fits in my tacoma's bed.

yeah, if i screw up with this much material, i have no business working on this car lol.
couple of updates, i got that TPS swapped out and before i took it for a test drive i said i should probably clean out the IACV. For some reason, i didnt do this during the restoration process. sure enough, it was all gunked up and was probably partially to cause for my goofy idle. so i cleaned it and put it back together. Fired the car up and coolant started leaking from the IACV. Crap. so i pulled it off again and that stupid little figure 8 gasket looked pretty flat. so i stopped wrenching on the car for the night, and the next day i picked up a new gasket from the dealer. installed it last night, and was still leaking. double crap. this time i pulled the IACV completely off the car and made a complete mess of my garage. Turns out there was a slight tear in the one hose, maybe thats all it was all along. so i cut the bad portion of the house out, got a new clamp, and put it all back together. Fired up the car and let it run for about 15 min. no signs of any leaks, so i plan on taking it for a test drive tonight just to make sure. and then i gotta clean up the mess i made in the garage....

Might as well replace them now, who knows when they were replaced before you bought it back. Should last you for a while anyways once replaced.

SHould have mentioned that i did replace them. i think i may have pinched the one hose on the clamp of the other one while wrestling out the IACV and punctured it that way. Thats my best guess anyways

took the car for a test drive. man, that new to me TPS made a huge difference. thanks again Braden! I shouldnt have to say this, and i can't believe i actually did it, but DO NOT TRUST A $12 TPS SENSOR FROM EBAY!!!!! that was a stupid moment for sure.
and this is quite annoying.... still a slight leak

I matched up IDs the best i could, there is a chance it could be bigger. Its just vacuum/heater hose i got cut by the foot from bulk. i'll crank down on that adjustment screw again after work and see if that doesnt help

fixed. 5/16s was a hair too big i guess. i got 1/4" line on there and no more leaks. Does anyone know if standard fuel line will hold up to coolant temps? i'm having a hard time tracking down 1/4" heater hose.

My concern with these hose from parts store is that over time they can deteriorate and clog up the thermostat or radiator. I would use them for vacuum hose but for everything else, oem
