DA9 DIY RAM AIR setup
I have a DA teg and I was wondering if anyone else has had modified their current airbox. I should really get a few pictures of it, but let me see if I can get describe what I did to my car. My intake box had two holes leading out of the filter box, one to the resonator (bottom of filterbox) and one to the input piping (front of box to tube near hood latch). What I did was remove the resonator and extended a pipe from the bottom hole to the splash guard and cut out a hole in the splash guard for the pipe to poke through. The pipe was from a cheap Ebay CAI and slightly bends forward so that the pipe opening slightly faces the front of the car. I was hesitant to do this due the fear of hydrolocking, but realized that if the pipe were to submerge itself, the engine would suck air through the piping near the hood latch.
I have notices some good results as I occasionally pop the hood after a trip here and there to see if the K&N filter was damaged by big rocks and what not, to my surprise the filter box was very much cooler than I had expected.
I will follow up with some pictures later for the DIY crew.
