Default LS/Vtec Rebuild

I am rebuilding my ls/vtec and ive tried searching for the answer on the question i have, but ive had no luck finding anything...

I was given used type r pistons. BUT I was told by one person to never use a used pistons that came out of another motor. I was just wondering if this was true or not.

Of course i would buy new rings...

Should i use the type r pistons that was given to me or just buy a new set? thanks in advance..

i dont see a problem with using them but have them checked out to make sure they arent cracked warped and get new wrist pins
